Steering Wheel Vibration (shake) Contour 97

The Steering Wheel of my contour (automatic, 2.0) vibrates (shakes) like hell whenever the transmission is on (not in neutral or parking) and the car is idle (like after stopping in a red light). It shakes so badly that I had to shift to neutral when I stop for more than a couple of seconds. Any idea?
Thanks
Thanks

id inspect the motor/trans mount and roll resistors.

Wow....Thanks for your prompt reply....I am not that technical ...what is a roll resistors? I got a clue from someone yesterday: I need to press the accelerator a little when the engine is idle and the jolts disappear. Still, is the idle speed to low or the steering wheel pump not working properly or…..any other idea.

There is a main motor mount on the left side of the engine and a tranny mount to on the right. However, underneath the engine connected to the engine cradle, there should be a mount on the front and rear of the engine to minimize engine rock upon accel and decel. Having the shaking disappear after revving the engine, is a big clue its something to do with the roll resistors.
