ECU PRBLEM (i think?)

Hello, I just bought a 1996 honda hatchback with a 96 integra ls motor swap and type r tranny. My problem is the check engine light goes on and off and sometimes at around 4 thousand rpm's it will start to bogg out. The kid I bought it from says it just needs a ECU out of a 96 integra ls. Does that sound right? I live in a small town in Utah and no real tuning shops around here. I was thinking of taking car to Las Vegas to have it looked at but trying to kinda know what is wrong before I take it down there. Any help would be greatlly appreciated. I had a similar problem on my accord and it turned out to be the O2 sensors. Thank You very much for any assistance....

first step is to pull the check engine light.

Do you mean disconnect the check engine light? Sorry i'm not to bright on mechanical terms.
