Replacing engine

Hi, I've got a friend of mine, her engine light came on one day, couldn't get it to a shop in time, eventually the oil filter just shot right off, had it tinkered with by a couple mechanics, came to the conclusion that the whole engine is shot, she's got the money, or she's just got the whole new engine, and she'd like to just take her old one out, and put a new one back in. 4 cylinder engine though, I somewhat know how to replace engines on the old muscle cars, but with all these wires and computers and whatnot, im in the dark completely, if i can find a manual or somethin like that I'd appreciate it very much.

You could get a Haynes maual from a local parts store. That might help out but it might not be the perfect solution. I'm pretty sure someone who kind of knows what they are doing could do it with a little guidance.

Get a service manual that the dealerships use. Thats what i have. Probably over 2000 pages. Has everything you need to know from uninstall to installation of the engine, drivetrain, brakes, etc, etc. In depth pictures as well. I bought mine new for about $100.
