International Liscense Plates

Hey all,

don't forget for England (can't remember about n/ireland etc..) plates it's white plates at the front an yellow at the back.

I was always wondering what these things on the plates mean. Do any of yo happen to know? I know..search right? J/w tho.

Would those have any effect as to the year or the car? Or when it should be inspected?

Those blue sections represent EU and all EU members have them on their licence plates. Before EU you were obligated to have sticker that shows from which country you come from but now (as you can see) there is sign of EU (those stars in circle) and letters showing the origin of country (ex. D-Deutchland, UK United Kingdom etc).
On German licenc plates upper cyrcle has to do something with how long you have valid technical inspection for the car (something like that) and one below is for region that this city belongs to.
German modelers please correct me if I am wrong ;)

For the UK plates peolpe tend to put all sorts of custom logos in these. New plate standard is to have the EU stars and GB ident but you can buy the plates with car pictures/ logos etc. Basically whatever you want.
Exactly the same for wales, N Ireland and Scotland - they shoudl really all have just stars and GB.

As a note scottish number plates tend to end with letters like VSU, MSU that sort of thing. N Ireland plates tend to have a Z in them (not allowed in other British countries)

sjelic is absolutely right. Every 2 years (brand new cars 3 years for the first time) you have to show your car to some kind of technical expert, two big companies are allowed to check it. At the front you get an octagonally sticker for the exhaust fumes and a circular one at the rear if your car fulfils all technical regulations (brakes, tires, lights,......).
The colour of them changes every year, for 2007 they are orange.

Both ends also get a crest, depending on the country/state you are living in (there are 16 in Germany).
The EU-license plates were introduced in 1998 in Germany. Before this, our license plates were more simple, and less ugly :lol:

Furthermore there were much more different crests to find, nearly every city had its own.
