Overheating??

Lately I've noticed that when I have the air on my motor runs about 20 degrees hotter. It usually only happens when I drive stop and go in the city, like on the freeway doing 70 everything is ok. I've also noticed every once in a while the ac compressor screams when I turn it on, and its like my truck has no power to accelerate. How would I know if the compressor is going bad? Also, is it a big deal to change it, or should I take it to a shop, or just say screw ac?

a stretched drivebelt or dying belt tensioner would cause water pump inefficiency, ac problems, and acceleration problems.
I'd replace the belt and inspect that tensioner first

I just had the motor replaced about 1,500 miles ago and replaced the belt at the same time. Since then I've replaced the altornator, and had to remove the belt. I did not take the tensioner off, I just pulled it back. It was pretty hard but not impossible. How would I know if the tensioner is going bad?

is the tensioner bouncing excessively? (a little bouncing is normal)
is the belt tension tight? it should be quite tight. DONT USE BELT DRESSING.
the tension/tensioner is set at the factory. there is not way to adjust it. you'd have to replace it.
dbl check all teeth in the pulleys and belts.
are you sure all your pulleys are good on this replacement motor?
