Rear power window

the automatic switch does not work I can only move my window up or down with the key in the tailgate and it labors pretty hard. anybody have this problem ?? Suggestions??

Replace the switch in the dash...

Hope this is in the right thread. My rear window wasn't working. Checked wiring and fixed it. Was working with key only. Fuse seems fine, but dash switch not working. Now the window doesn't want to wind up, seems to be slipping. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you need to take the tailgate apart. check the motor, it might need replaced. Not a fun job, but it beats having a window that wont roll up.

Yeah, you're right, Fullyinvolved! I opened the motor and found that the nylon/plastic? outer gear which houses the smaller metal gear was stripped inside, so the metal gear was just spinning around. 'Coz I live in South Africa and it takes too long to get replacement parts, I fixed it by making small inserts that fit in the outer gear which prevent the metal gear from slipping. Working great! P.S. was the same problem as my side windows.

i have the same problem i was tolld that there is a ground problem and it needs to be rewired from the dash to the window motor. i havent tackled this just yet cuz i plan on re doing the motor then the interior.

What if the key wont work and the switch wont work

Funny, I'm having the opposite problem with my 1990 Bronco -- the inside rear window switch works fine but nothing happens with the key in the tailgate door. Any ideas?
