A xg is a the top of the line luxurious car by hyundai. Its called a XG in US, and in Korea its called a Granduer. It may be the top of the line car here in the US but in Korea the Equis and dynasty are top

I am interested in the Hyundai XG350. It is an incredibly luxuriously appointed car for the money. My test drive was a mixed impression. It rode great. You could not feel the bumps and it was very quiet. (This is not an enthusiasts car, it is a luxury ride) It seemed to shift strangely and I noticed a slight hesitation but it had good acceleration. The A.C. didn't seem to cool adequetely and the brake pedal felt a little mushy. I also am concerned about a few things about Hyundai, namely reliability, quality, depreciation and service. Does anyone have any opinions or reviews to share?

The V6 is OK as is the tiptronic, it is well equipped and priced, but I don't think that is enough to save it

I would agree with you on the XG 01-03 are pretty ugly, but check out an 04. Updated the front and rear with different headlights, grille, front and rear bumper, taillights, and trunk lid. It looks a whole lot better than the prior ones. I am the parts manager at a Hyundai dealer in Indianapolis and I would say the XG and the Sante Fe are the most reliable cars Hyundai makes. I've been with Hyundai for a year and a half, not once have we done an engine or a transmission on an XG. We hardly ever see an XG in here, especially for something major. Biggest problem with the XG would probably be in the evap system, have replaced a few purge control valves and rollover valves, but even those are few and far between. We have an XG in our shop right now, probably biggest repair I've seen on an XG yet. Clip for the drivers floor mat put about a 1" rip in the carpet, so, we are replacing the carpet throughout the car. But really the XG is a really nice car for the money and very reliable. I just bought a Sonata for my wife in April, right before the 04 XG came out. With I would have held out a couple months and gotten an 04 XG.

I have a 02 XG and the only thing I don't like is that the paint job isn't very good. You could walk by and I think the paint will chip off. Can't beat the ride and room inside.

just ask JD power and associates. Or talk to anyone in the car industry about dodge/chrysler cars, or check out the lemon guide. I agree the early hyundais were shit but they have come a long way from the pony. And check out hyundai's backing...and then chrysler product studies.

Their so ugly. Stole all the styling cue's from other cars. If you want a luxury car, spend the money. If not, get an Accord or Camry. MUCH better than this wanna-be XG.

If you want a luxury car, spend the money.
Good point, but then again an educated consumer would want to get the most value and luxury out of any vehicle purchase. By saying to get an Accord or a Camry is not the same. The XG has way more features than those two and is priced much better. Plus with the warranty that everyone else has copied off of Hyundai it seems to be the better choice.
Hyundai has been winning awards left and right and has multiple partners in engine development, transmission etc. Even the in window antenna (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=2151562)that your Jag has is developed by the same company that Hyundai uses to put in its vehicles like the Santa Fe. So with so many cross ventures and developments between auto companies we have more in common than one would think. So bottom line is, its not just wanting luxury that one has to spend more for its being getting the most luxury for the least amount of money.

Speaking of the XG series, its being replaced by the Azera this fall/winter 2005. And word has it that its one heck of a knockout and will surely give the Accord and Camry a run for its money.

My wife and I bought one of the first XG's to come out. Gold with dark tinted windows, to replace our beloved 1995 Cadillac Eldorado. The car has been absolutely trouble free. Everyone says that it isn't a sporting car. I say it all depends on how you drive it. I can carve up the roads in SW Missouri and NW Arkansas at a very good clip, using the tiptronic and the super good brakes. My only regret is not having waited one more year to buy the more powerful and better appointed XG 350. The reason I went with the XG to replace the Caddy was because I had a 2000 Tiburon that I put over 75K on in one year. That was another great success story that was more fun than a 60 year old man is supposed to have.
