Smell gas, fuel leaking

I smell gas pretty strong but I don't see it dripping anywhere. I had it in the shop for oil change and was told that I had a fuel leak and it would cost $250.00 to have it fixed.....(I'll do it myself)
How are the fuel lines ran? Where is the fuel pressure regulator & filter in a 1996 model? Where should I look first?

Check your fuel line at the top of the engine where the throttle body assy. is. The fuel lines are plastic and can have a hairline crack. Once you can see the two lines, one supply and one return, turn on your ignition but dont start the car. Check for a leak right at the bend of the plastic fuel line almost to the quick connector connecting the line to the pressure regulator. I had one yesterday with this problem.

I had this problem with a 94 bonneville, it was a cracked o-ring in the fuel line, I just replaced the o-ring and quick connector. Check to see if the line is leaking, mine started as a drip and then started to pour out, as the car was started. I hope this helps.

That was it! The pressure line was cracked. You couldn't see it until you turned on the ignition.
Thanks for the help.
