99,cant get gas to go in tank

1999 camry,when I try to fill it with gas it acts like tank is full and shuts off pump,I have to pull nozzle almost all the way out and barely squeeze the handle and let it flow very slowly. I can put 15 plus gallons in but takes about 10 minutes. I have tried 3 pumps at two different stations.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Your car should be equipped with a vent hose located right next to the main fill pipe. When you find it, check to make sure it is not kinked or plugged.

Another possibility...My 98 did the same thing. I had the habit of squeezing in the last drop of gas after the pump's automatic shutoff. Eventually, this will damage the charcoal cannister which is part of the gasoline vapor recovery system. It probably needs to be replaced. If so, you may be out $300-$400. Ouch!

In the future, stop at the atomatic shutoff.
