I have a 1997 Camry V6 XLE. The A/C needs to be re-charged and I don't know how much refridgerant it takes. Anybody know? And does all refridgerant work the same such as how cold it gets

You should have R134a system. You can find the freon in Walmart with hose and pressure gauge. Charge the system so the pressure is within the proper color area.

that's not really the answer to my question. I know how to put it in and have the equiptment. If you read my post correctly, you'd know that I asked HOW MUCH to put in it and if it matters what brand.

He really did answer how much by my way of reading what you posted. Its done by pressure reading not just adding some fixed amount.
The refrigerant 134a is all the same. Some have different additives though.
You should have stated if it way empty or had pressure since you have the equipment. Then maybe he could have answered the question you did not ask.
If you have some pressure it could be less than 1 can.
If your question is how much to buy, get 3 cans. You shouldn't need more than that. If you do it is probably going right out.
