Alright, so I've noticed some wierdass, off the wall, and cryptic usernames and I've been meaning to post this for weeks now. Where did everybody's usernames come from? Some are pretty straightforward, but they all have some story to them. So spill!!

My dad and I call Mustangs "Muscletangs." It's our little name we have for them. We were talking one day about '60s Mustangs and how they were either pony cars or muscle cars. Finally the name "muscletang" just came up so both sides could be happy.

MUScleTANG For some of you people that don't get it.

I drive a 2002 Civic Si. I said "Ya know, if I take the C in civic and replace it with the S from the Si, it still sounds like civic. And its a 2002, I could call it Si Vic 02"...hmmm... see there is a reason why I have an S in the front of my name, not just to be hip and cool by spelling things wrong.

You know what Uranium is, right?

Element number 92 in the periodic table, with isotopes of 235 and 238?

Yeah, well Uranium 235 produces massive amounts of energy during the process of radioactive decay, as it turns from isotope 235 into isotope 238. Submarines have nuclear reactors, so that the energy produced from the uranium can power the entire ship.

Now, I don't have a car....yet....but wouldn't it be cool if a car was powered by Uranium? I'm sure the radioactive waste would shorten our lives by like 10 years, but we may be able to achieve spectacular results, don't you think?

you don't know how nuclear power works do you? All the uranium does is heat up. They then use the heat to superheat water, which turns steam turbines, which turn massive generators. Pretty lowtech, just a hi-tech way of getting there. So it probably wouldn't work very well for a car.

4trackmixtape
06-09-2005, 07:30 PM
Before dj's used computers to make mixtapes, you had a little Tascam 4-track recorder. 2 left channels and 2 right channels. So you'd record on 1 set of left and right channels, then go back and record on top of that with the other set of channels. Some of the best mixtapes were recorded with 4-tracks, like Q-Bert's "Demolition Pumpkin Squeeze Music", or Babu's "Comprehension".

Wasn't it said that it takes several billion years for uranium to decay?

Depends on the type. Some uranium decays rather quickly while other types will take longer than all the members of AF's lives put together.

Not really, it's my name and birthday.

Heep
06-09-2005, 09:24 PM
Let me tell you "whare" my username comes from.

Way back in the year 1996 A.D., this young boy figured out how to use IRC, but needed to choose a handle by which he could be identified. At the time, he was an unashamed Star Wars fan, and loved to read his Star Wars Encyclopedia. One day, while flipping through it, he came across an entry pertaining to "The Great Heep", who was apparently a large pile of discarded droid parts which had somehow come to life (this was from the Star Wars cartoon, I believe). Fancying this concept, the young boy decided this unloved creature needed a fan, and thus named himself after the living junk heap. "The_Great_Heep" was soon shortened to "TheGreatHeep" (easier to type), and inevitably ended up being further shortened, by his peers, to "Heep" (though a few rogue souls preferred "Great", or, confusingly, "The"). Years past, but the name did not go into retirement until around 1999, when "I_am_a_dot" (see AIM name) brought our subject a freshened level of attention. This moniker, however, soon joined "The_Great_Heep" in the "too taxing to type" (aka TTTT) bin, and was largely replaced by the return of the nice, simple, somewhat cheeky and oft proclaimed cute name, "Heep". It has since remained as a unique (though a few Uriah Heep fans try stealing it), easily remembered nom de plume.

Gotti was definately my second favorite mob boss.

Behind Al Capone right? I think alot were "better" than Gotti like Luciano (built the syndicate), Meyer Lansky (polak lol, made the Italian mafia a business not a gang), Carlo Gambino (died when he was an old man, in his bed, the boss of the most powerful Mafia Family in America) Gambino was cool because he was low key, a real mafioso, he modernized the mafia and was one of the last old school dons, they kept it real, followed all the rules, tried keeping it a secret organization like its supposed to be. Now everybodies a rat.

But Gotti is my favorite just because of his style, he was flashy, cocky and he was THE man in every room he walked into. He won every case the government brought against him and laughed at the trials, if it wasnt for dirty snitches nowadays (and in his case the biggest one in history) he would of still bin boss, that would of never happened 50 years ago.

Ah well... tough luck, some peoples lives are real intresting tho

ya.. one day i thought to myself, i havent read a book in years, i need to read something. But i dont like reading books, so i had to get something that was really intresting. I got a book about the history of the Gambino Crime Family (like 450 pages) and finished it in like a week and a 1/2.

I find that stuff mad intresting... it just shows how a bunch of immigrants, that came from pure poverty made their gangs into a business which would be in the top 10 of the Fortune 500 if it was legal. Meyer Lansky died when he was like 82, he owned hotels, casinos, golf courses, and he had $400 million in the bank. He's the one that really said "we're bigger than US steel" like hyman roth says in the Godfather

Of course Capone, i got that huge poster of him right in front of my laptop. I just liked how good of a leader he was, and how feared he was, the man was an icon that only a few people were brave enough to go against. Ruthless and fearless, gotta admire it in a way.
