Was there ever a time when someone pulled up next to you blasting the sh!t out of their car stereo and you thought to yourself "Cool, I want to hear more" or "Wow,this person sure has impressed me"?
That's right, NEVER. So why do they think we all want to hear the crap they consider music. We don't. The same goes for when your at the car wash. It's actually kind of funny when you can hear their body bolts and trim rattling loose, but it's certainly never impressive.

I was down at the Jersey Shore this weekend... Cruising along the street were these 3 (could have not been much older than 16) in an old subaru station wagon... Blasting no other than... The Backstreet Boys...

I like to listen to my music loud sometimes. I sometimes turn it down at lights, but other that, it's only a minute or two, it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

I like listening to music loud, especially if you got a system, use it! I dont do it to be cool, i do it cause it sounds better loud, and you can feel the bass. I'm not gunna turn it down cause somebody i dont know at a stop light doesnt like my music lol

There's a difference between having your music loud so you can hear it good, and blasting the car next to you with 100Db. The other day I'm in my soft top Jeep and this guy comes right up on our ass. Our entire vehicle was shaking with the bass.
If you're going to blast your music, at least be considerate. Never liked overly loud music.

there's a fine line. And you SHOULD be respectful of those around you. I used to listen to my music loud but I'd ALWAYS turn it down at lights. I felt horrible not turning it down. It's a disturbance to everyone around you, and there you are... a little pink blob behind the wheel, holding one arm up at the 12:00 bobbing your head back and forth with this dumbass "I wanna be cool too, guys" scowl across your face, making SURE not to look at the other drivers, who are all giving you this "what a fucking asshole" look. I love hearing deep bass that's crisp and doesn't rattle a thing, but pushing it full volume so everyone within a two block radius can hear what you're forcing down their ear drums is just rude. Plain and Simple. If you don't learn to respect the people you share the road with every single day, you need to get some wisdom.

I like to hear my music loud a ttimes, so long as there is no one else in the car with me to complain about it or at a stop light. But if I am on the highway I sometimes put it a bit loud. But I agree with the originator of this thread that at having it too too loud especially at a stop light with others around you or in a residential neighborhood is just plain rude.
But you know what really bothers me, is not so much that they play loud music, its that they play the loud music in those whimpy speakers that really distort the music and make it sound horrible.

I like when there is a car right next to me at a red light knocking like hell, hitting so hard its making your car shake. I just love bass. I don't turn mine down at a red light but when I'm pulling into a parking lot at store I will turn it down to a decent level so that everyone can't hear what I'm listening to. Or when I'm at a red light and there are kids In a car next to me I will turn it down so they don't here any thing that ther shouldn't.

Yes I am respectful with it unless I don't give a fuck. Fridays/Saturday nights I don't care much. But during the week, I Just save up for the weekend. Sundays I dont play at all. Some days I turn it down slightly because I know that the bass it still going to carry. Even at 25% volume. I know the difference between being obnoxious and being innocently accused.
Hey thread starter, you should start up a topic called why I hate people with rims also. ".......Here I am at a red light and they are just there shining in my face....I think to myself, does this person think I care? I mean they are big! ...................."
At every greenlight on a HILL some guy with a exhaust system presses on the gas and it is so loud.

I never said I hate people who blast their music, I just think they are inconsiderate. I actually love blasting my music but if I think it is bothering others I would feel like an ass if I didn't turn it down. That's the main difference here. Some people are considerate and others don't mind being an ass.
The big rim analogy doesn't float. If someone doesn't like 'em they don't have to look. No one can get away from a mega watt system blasting away.

it's rude when there's other people around to subject them to your shit. It's the same as if you're in an open top jeep and you're just SCREAMING at the top of your lungs so all the other drivers can hear. Say you're screaming about how all old people should have their licenses revoked, or maybe WHITE POWER!!! It's shit a small population of the surrounding people might like, but most just don't, and you're subjecting it to them in a manner in which they didn't ask for and on a medium in which they don't want to hear.

I was curious about this thread, and yes, it's what I expected. My ears actually hurt when someone pulls up behind or to the side of me when they are thumping that bass, my old ears can't take the noise. I used to go to the drags and stand next to the nitro cars without ear protection, work on running B52 engines without ear protection, listen to live bands without ear protection, and yes now my ears hurt. Ignorance is one thing, but when your egos get in the way, it only proves one thing, you need to blast your bass to attract attention to boost your egos. The stupid will only breed more stupid.

Ok, if all you can hear is bass, that isn't music, thats noise. 145db of bass 100 db of mids/highs is noise, not music. Oh and yes I am working on a system. I have the components left (need to fiberglass kickpanels). Then I will get around to using Second Skin on the truck to get rid of any rattles.

I was at a stoplight once with my aunt, and this asshole comes up with his girlfriend in the car, and he rolls his windows down and turns it up really really really loud, just to be an ass.
Now, it wasn't entertaining, and I was embarrassed, although my aunt (who is a little crazy) proceeded to roll our window down and yell at him, something along the lines of, "You think I've never heard someone say 'mother****er' before? Trust me, I was saying that word long before you were born!" Very funny.
But the point is, it's very rude and when you're doing it just for that, it's not amusing.
And BTW, I used to ride in the car with someone that liked to do this (tetrahydro) and I would never let him, because it hurts my chest (I'm a wimp...), I'm not really a fan of just bass.

I got a pretty loud system, and i do agree on the fact that you SHOULD turn it down at stop lights.
FOR ONE, if it's so loud you cannot hear sirens, the other person might take the light AS SOON AS IT turns green, and drive right in the path of a police cruiser in pursuit. That happens more then you think.
THEFT, anyone who blast's there sh*t is ONLY advertising what they got...so don't be crying when you wake up with all your sh*t missing.
I cannot sit here and lecture though, cause honestly i'm guilty of blasting my stereo in the wrong places, i don't do it anymore though.

I like my music loud, but not obnoxiously loud. I'm happy with my factory Bose system, which isn't the greatest but it keeps me happy. I turn it up to nearly all the way but when I do I turn up the treble so bass isn't the only thing you hear. Iron Maiden kicks ass when it's loud. The only time I believe I've turned my music up all the way with bass and treble all the way as well, was the last week of school, blaring Alice Cooper's "School's Out" in the school parkinglot :ylsuper: (the song from the beginning of "Dazed and Confused")

fuck all that. Its about SQL... loud bass with clear highs. You can set up some killer front stage with some hardcore subs ya know. And it doesn't take much know how to make it clear. Just a decent 4 channel amp for the highs.
and to answer the original question... YES, I have been impressed by sound systems when someone pulled up bangin the fuck out of it. In my world, that shit is life. I love car stereos and I love them loud. A factory system... PLEAAASSEEE... thats fuckin torture. Its like a chick giving you blue balls. I hear music but I cant feel it. It just aint right.
I HATE.... HATE, when someone gets in my car and says, "The bass is too loud, can you turn it down?".... I would prefer that you walk motherfucker. I cant get enough.
At stop lights I dont turn it down. Instead I stay a good 20 yards behind everyone else and keep pumpin that shit. If you dont wanna wait 20 yards back with me, then go around bitch it's your choice.
What I do hate though is when some stupid lookin skinny white boys who have half of a beard and dont shave it, wearing wrist bands and throw backs roll up in a beat the fuck up 93 caprice with all the windows down and got that shit turned up to the max. I would slap them all if I could. I went to school with this one dude who had stock speakers and a pair of subs, and when he got to intersections, he would be like.. OH... then roll all his windows down and turn it up and do his best to convince you it sounded great when all you could hear is fuzz from the shitty audio signal.
that was annoying.
Me = not annoying to me.
I make my effort when it needs to be made. If its gonna bother you for more than a few seconds I'll turn it down. If not, fucking get over it. Turn your music up if you dont wanna hear mine for 5 seconds.
and to answer the original question...
