Straight hair?! (aka vanity)

I have curly hair. Very curly. Always has been. Ever since I was 7 or so, I've kept my hair very very short, getting brush cuts every couple of months. Anyways, I last cut it in September for college grad, and was too lazy to get a hair cut. Came to Australia in February, and everyone said I should keep growing it just for the hell of it.

I really had no idea how long it really was.

Last night a couple lovely ladies pinned me down and straightened my hair - first time in my life it's been straight!! I must say, I love it. Now I'm going to have to buy a $@!#ing $300 straightener :bloated:

I highly recommend to anyone who's had their hair the same for ages and ages - just try something different!

Looks good

When I go up to Auckland in a week and a bit I'm getting my hair colored, either blond or brown, not sure really, but I'm sick of the color I've got at the moment, after 19 years with it.

My hair is slightly curly, usually it gets worst when it's long, I borrow a straightener every now and then, should I want one.

Heep, you ARE vain!!! ;)

It's fun to change things with your hair. March '04 I donated 11" of my hair to Locks of Love, and it was a WELCOME change of pace. I love dying my hair and trying different things (all within the realm of what it COULD look like naturally, though). It keeps me preoccupied so I don't run out and get more piercings or start a tattoo collection. ;)

I used to think my curly hair sucked.. till I got too lazy to cut it.. now its shoulder length and I get all sorts of girls who come up to me and play with it.

In short.. naturally curly > straight hair.

very stylish... good job on that.

I had the opposite problem my hair has been straight all my life. then I went through a period where I cut it very short for a few years, then tried to grow it out and it was curly as hell and I hated it.So i'm stuck with the short hair. I guess maybe from being so short it started coming in curly? i don't know, but if I try to let it go long it turns into a massive afro now so maybe a straightener would help haha.

Joking aside, though, such a change just made me want to show off! Haha, I've never been like that before - usually very humble and could care less about my looks. Not sure if that's a good thing or not...

What I don't get though, is the aforementioned ladies were admiring and playing with my curls, then they proceeded to straighten them all. How is one to know what they want?

it depends on the girl...some girls like a guy natural, and some girls like a guy who cares about his presentation...depends on what kinda girl you wanna attract. Do you want a girl who cares about what she looks like? or do you want one who has natural beauty and doesn't mind if she goes out in sweats and a t and her hair up in a messy bun? all girls have their own preference

Heep - looks good mate

I'm being b0ring atm, blond bits and crazy cuts is about it. Colour all the time is too f&$king expensive.

See... that's strange. For me most girls I know like me better when I had longer hair (now my hair is really really curly... to the extent that my hair goes out into a beatles thing it's weird... it poofs) so most girls I know liked me better looking like a mix of these:

or it put back like this

but my current girlfriend like my hair short or with a hat:

i made a pretty big change recently too.

as most of you know who've seen my pictures in the "post yourself" threads, i've had the "surfer shag" for quite a few years now, about 4 or 5 to be exact, with very little variation. at a certain regularly-maintained length, it looked good and i was happy with it. but if i let it grow too long, it got really poofy and curly and looked really crappy. i got tired of this.

so last week i had an appointment for a hair-cut, and i figured "what the hell, may as well do something new."

so i went from this:

to this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v727/Suislide1337/IMG_3838.jpg

i like it alot and i think i'll be keeping it this length for a while.

Last night a couple lovely ladies pinned me down and straightened my hair Why you lucky dog.

Its funny everyone else in my family is like Heeps curly hair except me, I have the straightest hair. I too got fed up a few years back and decided not to cut my hair hoping that as it got longer it would start curlying up. I actually got my hair long enough that when I tied it up in a pony tail it was past my shoulders. But no curls.

Then one day I cut it back, so short that I looked like the haircut on one of those china dolls, :banghead:. (or one of the three stooges). So now I just keep it inbetween short and long.

As for your hair pics Heep, its not vain, you want something new and different and it certainly shows in the pics. In the puckered up lip pic, you look older than the curly one. The latest one with the straight hair and 5 o'clock shadow makes you look like a hip young guy. Looks better.

i have curly/wavy hair and i love mine straight too! i get tons of compliments when i have it straightened but sadly it costs a lot of money...i pay about $100 or so every 3 months to have it chemically "relaxed" which is supposed to make it stick straight but with my hair only makes it possible to use a flat iron on. oh well at least it works!

I had short hair up until Nov 03. Now my hair is long and curly, kind of like yours but mine's brown with white highlights, (which have since turned yellow... :disappoin ) It used to just poof out like a motherfooking afro when it was even a little bit long.
But last January, I just stopped cutting it, and it grew out and when I put a little gel in it it worked great to just fall on it's sides on my face and girls LOVE it. Since then, it's knotted a bit and it's mostly in self-formed locks, so even when I wake up, I can toss a little water in it, shake it around a bit, and it falls down. And now, when I pull it down, it's at my chin in the front and about 3/4 as long elsewhere. I can safely say that my hair has gotten me laid a few times. When it's wet it stayed down really well and now I'm just starting to dread it. I've always wanted to do that. I'm pretty excited.
