will an original factory tach fit my dash in place of the clock? I have a 65 Chevelle convertible with a clock in the center of the cluster where I think the tach should have been. Thanks

I have had a few car clubs who have done that but the problem is you have 2 deal with the dash and undoing alot of it .
what I did as a faster project for a tach was take the ac vent right under the dash and next to the steering wheel and buy a sun pro 3 and 3/8 tach and it set in ther perfect with about 1/4 inch to 1/2 in clearance. the vent poped out with a simple screwdriver(flathead) and hammer. this is a cheap and fast tach set up that looks like a knee knocker stock set up type tach.it took me about 40 mins using the sun pro dircetions to do all the wiring and another 5 to set it in there.also you could get a stock gm tach same size as the sun pro for about the same. i bought my sun pro for like 45 bucks and i think a OEM 6k tach is only like 60 bucks

hopes this info helps
