02' Grand Am rear speaker wiring

I just installed a couple of pioneer 6x9 speakers in the rear deck. Problem is, there were four wires going to the factory (now blown) speakers, and the pioneers only take 2. I tried putting the two positives together and two negatives together, but the speaker made a cracking sound, like it was cutting out or something. I found that if I only connected a certain positive and certain negative it seemed to work. My question is, is this ok, or should I find a way to connect the remaining wires, and if so, how do I do that? My car is an 02 Grand Am w/ the Monsoon stereo. Thanks for any help!!

I give a call to a stereo shop, find one that seem to do a lot of business, they would most likely have worked on the Monsoon system. They would probably answer you question. I'm sure some one on the Forum can also give you the answer if you can wait.

Good luck

Hmm...that is different but i know that stores sell addapters for 4 y's to 2 y's. It might be a ground but i wouldnt think so on speakers. I would have to see a pic of it or something to fully inderstand.

Dual coil stock speakers?

As I understand it, you need to swap out ALL the stereo components when upgrading from the Monsoon system.

dunno if they were dual cone or not, but I was hoping to not have to take out the factory stereo and amp if I didn't have too. Is it possible to work with what I have, or should only replace the amp, or do you mean the stereo as well? That kinda starts to add up. Thanks though!
