Hey guys, I may be saying goodbye to my 98' malibu, and getting my hands on a 2001 monte carlo. I belive its the LS and about only 35K mlies on it. Its been owned by a mechanic. Anything I should know or be worried about? Malibus had quite a few problems none thats were major. But what can I be expecting? And do all of them come with folddown back seats? I know malibus didn't and it sucked. Need a nicer car for my system. Thanks fellas....

My son has a 2001 MC. Seems to be a pretty good car. His dashboard lights go out intermittently (more off than on), and has had to replace the steering rack. It was leaking 1/2 pt fluid per week.

the only problem i have had with my 2000 ss is the center console peeled..which is cosmetic...and yes the seats fold...the ls is the less desireable model, sure it gets better milage but it has the 3.4 motor..which isnt as good as the 3.8

I am a new MC owner too, I have had my 2004 LS for about 2 weeks now. So far, so good. The only problem I've had is the cd player didn't work but Chevy fixed that today by replacing it for me. I seem to have a tranny/shifting problem though. More on that later.
