Installing new seat fabric in 86 vette

I have an 86 corvette and i am redoing the interior. Call me stupid if you feel but i have never done interior before so i decided to set out on a solo project of redoing the interior in my car. I have done pretty good so far but i am now stuck on reupholstering the seats. My progress is minimal to none.

I have the seats out of the car and i have the bottom cushion out but i can't figure out how to take the the top part of the seat out. I am sitting here looking at all the little metal wires that came with the covers and can't help but think i am going to mess it up.

The seat covers did not come with instructions for removal and instillation. I have looked on the web for instillation instructions but was unable to find any.

I was wondering if anyone who has upholstered seats has any advice and/or a set of instructions for doing it.

Thank you,

Richard

The seats should be similar to my '85s. I redid my seats 3 years ago in leather, but cloth should be the same set-up. My re-upholstery kit didn't come with any instructions either.

The upper seat back(foam/leather) on mine snap-fit into the plactic backing housing. To release it, First I had to push down and pull out on the top of the cushion material and then squeeze in both sides at the same time to release the foam from the housing.

Once you get the foam out, you'll see how the metal rods and hooks are used to create the separate sections on the cover.

Good Luck.
