I Almost Get Into A Brawl EVERYDAY At Work...

I really don't know how so many people can be SO RUDE....EVERYDAY...
Just today, i'm closing out my register...there is another worker, a new girl, and she tells this couple to hold on because i can help them more. So i'm counting, 2 min's later this dude punches open our door, and is like let's get the fuck out of here.... I looked at him in the face (through glass) and was like FUCK YOU. He almost broke our door.....driving his brand new mercedes....rich mofo...dressed like one of those GQ a-holes..
Anyway, forget even that, a couple days ago i had a guy, a mechanic, tell me "what the fuck do you mean you don't have it"....?!?!?!? I didn't have this part for him, and he was all pissed off like I WAS THE OWNER OF THE STORE. It's freakin autozone for gods sake....i don't own it, if i don't have something...that aint my problem...even when i check another store...they're like "well you drive there and get it"... I told that dude, please don't curse or else i'll do something i'll regret. Lol, that kept him quiet...
Right after that customer, i get a guy who wants front pads...and a belt. I check everything on my cpu, check stock....we don't have the pads he wants (24.99)....he goes...."well give me the $45 for $24.99"...i tell him there is no way i can do that. THEN, i ask him if he want the belt...which WE FRIGGIN HAD....he goes "why should i buy the belt when i can't even get brakes"....?!?!?!?!? IN THE WORST possible attitude....so i go, ALRIGHT THEN.....
I swear it one day someone is gonna say the wrong thing at the wrong moment, and i'm gonna get fired for what i do...and you know what, IT'S GONNA BE WORTH IT. I've worked SEVERAL retail jobs, and bye far autoparts stores are the worst. #1, everyone comes in with a general attitude, like "i'm here...serve me..."....#2, i'm used to working in a diverse neighborhood.....this hood is ALL WHITE...i get maybe 2 black people a day....hardly any spanish or indian.. Maybe it's cause it's also a richy/upper middle class area also..that the people are so fucking spoiled they feel your a slave to them...which i aint.
Don't get me wrong, i know how much it sucks to wait in line...but c'mon, would you CURSE at someone because they don't have what you want..? EVERYDAY there will be almost a shoving match...seriously.
Me, i'm the most laid back...mellow guy you'll ever meet...i'm a lover...not a fighter.....my brother is the fighter.. BUT, sometimes i get so stressed out over letting things just smooth out... Sometimes i feel like saying FUCK YOU ASSHOLE.. A good friend awhile back told me that you HAVE TO LEARN how to just brush them off you shoulder..meaning don't let them get to you....just brush them off......
Sorry guys..it's been a long day..

It sounds like your dealing with the lowest of the low as far as customers go. I can't blame you for being pissed i probbly would have knocked out a few teeth by now.

I know how it feels, but I'm sure it's worse at an autoparts store. I also work in an upperclass area at Jack In the Box. My old store was in a bad neighborhood, but I still didn't get as pissed as I do now at this store. People come in thinking their college degree teaches them how to order food but they still don't have a f***ing clue. They get pissed when I ask them to clarify their order. The spoiled teenagers are by far the worst though.

Lol, reminds me of the chicks that get all pissed off when you ask them WHAT ENGINE IS IT.......4cyl or 6.........rear drum..or disc...
There like, "oh well find it out on the computer"...so ofcoarse i send them outside to look at things...they have to learn sometime.
Lol, they get MAD at you because THEY don't know what they are even driving... I told one girl "get with the program"...it was so funny one day..lol..everyone was laughing at that the whole day....

:lol2: Sounds like my job. I work in the flooring department at Menards (it's like a Home Depot for you non-midwesterners) and I'm standing under our HUGE HUGE motorized carpet rack with samples all around me when this lady walks up to me and says "Do you guys sell carpet?" :eek7: I look around and I go "yes ma'am we do." She's all like "I mean real carpet" WTF?!?!?
Also what is it with people asking me to cut blinds for them after I punch out to leave after a 10 hour day. I have my coat on and I'm walking away today when this guy comes up and tell me to cut his blinds. I just looked him straight in the eye and said "No." Plain and simple, no attitude to it or anything. The store manager caught up to me before I left and told me to not do that ever again but he also said it was funny and he understands why I did it.
One last thing. Why is it that customers expect me to know every detail about everysingle product the store sells even if it's not in my department. Why the fuck would you go to the flooring department to ask about doors and what doors won't get scratched by a chihuahua or how am I suppose to know what size air compressor this guy is gonna need to power his grinder. I could understand it if they were asking where a product was or about a product that's in a department next to mine. But to walk over 100 yards to ask me about a product that has absolutely nothing to do with the department I'm in makes no sense to me...DAMN I FEEL BETTER!!!

Lol, damn man i get ALOT of that sh*t....especially the "i'm clocked out" type of deal.
It will be DEAD....as soon as i clock out for lunch, i'll be walking out...and someone will be like..."um...excuse me..." i just keep walking...period. They expect you to know everything, it's so funny it makes me want to laugh in there face. I had a guy say to me "do you have claw pliers..."....? And i'm like...WTF..? How bout the people that ask you a million questions about there atv...and motorcycle....JUST BECAUSE WE SELL MAYBE 2 DIFFERENT BATTERIES FOR THEM.
Better yet, they get MORE upset when you say "honestly, i don't know"... They rather you say...."yeah, ok...that'll work...", just to hear it. I'm gonna get more snippy...it will make me feel better.
Lol, or i can do what my buddy does....if someone asks him something.....and the answer is NO, my friend wil say......"Oh..Oh yeah..I Know What It Is....Uuuuummm....NO.....Nope..don't have it"......
BTW, it feels good calling customers names like ace, chief, bro, buddy...dude....it kinda degrades them.

I gotta try that. I bet I get some really wierd looks too. BTW one way to make all the stress go away is to make another co-worker feel wierd...Like the other day out of the blue I got on the intercom sounding all official and said "Let's hear it for Larry in hardware!!! Come on people give Larry a hand he's been in here every day this week working hard!!!" The store was pretty crowded and everyone got a kick out of it and started clapping for poor ol' Larry who is a really shy guy. He thought it was funny later.

rofl, all the blue collar workers are on the edge. I could just see one being like "NO!! GOD DAMNIT WE DONT HAVE YOUR MOTHERFUCKING PART YOU SARDONIC PIECE OF SHIT!!" Then bursting into tears and being like "I can't take it anymore!! I just cant..."
I usually blew up at managers though.
@ pizza hut, there was this like 78 year old lady that did nothing but complain. Finally, I was off washing some glass case panels and dropped 3 pizza boxes and she just bitches up a STORM. Massively dispropportionate to dropping 3 cardboard boxes. I was like "THEYRE A COUPLE OF BOXES YOU EMPTY HOLLOW, SENILE HAG!! GO BITCH AT SOMEONE ELSE. FUCK THIS MOTHERFUCKING BULLSHIT JOB!!!" And then I threw the glass face down on the ground. Shattering it. A lot. And out the front door, not the employee door so everyone would see me. lol I made such a scene and it felt so good. They kept my last paycheck, though.

Oh man, that reminds me of when i used to work at autozone. teh freaking dickholes that walk in and expect you to hang up on the customer you're with right away, and serve them, or even just stop talking to the customer you're with to serve them.
The best was the pople that had no clue what kind of car that they had (other than it was a 95 toyota), and then they get pissed at you when you can't figure out what the hell part they need. This got so bad with one custmer at one point I just told him that he might as well bring his car to a mechanic, because if he's too dumb to know the name of the part he needs, he's going to fuck up his car in the vain repair attempt. In not so many words.
But think of the good parts man, like when the 3 college girls come in and they need to to change their wipers, and you get to flirt with them the whole time out there. Rare, but I did get one girls number that way. Never ended up calling it though.

yah....i got a couple of them customers every day. I'm in retail sales tvs, digital cams, etc. I get people calling and bitching to me about there tv's and asking me whats wrong with it. I let them know were not a fuckin technical service line, i'm not a technician, i am a salesman. I've had to hold my tongue and just walk away from several customers. But hey its retail...

I used to get abused all the time at my old job.
Sometimes it was joking, sometimes it was serious.
Customers get antsy when you can't do what they need you to do. Shrug it off, suck it up, and just get the job done. A tempter tantrum isn't worth your job.

Toksin, thats the best advice...to just deal with it..and move on, cause it aint worth losing my job over...thanks..
BTW, Steel....lol, i know the whole flirting thing man..thats fun. The first week i was there this cute 20's latin/asian chick was out of gas about 1/4 mile up the road. I walked with her to a gas station...filled up the 1gallon gas jug....walked to her car...put it in, and she was so sweet. We where having a charismatic time together, sadly though she had a bf...but she was like "oh..whats your name...how can i ever thank you..?"...
Lol, i was thinking....................you don't want to know.. All my employees where like "you dog, did you get a #".. I honestly like to help nice people..whether it be a 70 year old man, a cute girl..or a 30's something mechanic..as long as there straight with me, and not have an attitude-THATS the reason i like retail, to help people......BUUUUUT i guess you get some bad apples, what i've also learned is don't let that 1 customer make you snotty to all the customers....

Mechanics are the most antsy people out there. If they can't get their part RIGHT NOW they threaten to close the account and go somewhere else. You just gotta learn to make em happy. Give em a discount, free freight or whatever. Pull a string here and there to keep them coming back. A LOT of mechanics simply do it to relieve stress, or just be dicks, they don't even mean anything by it. I had a customer give me a rev up over something we didn't have, ripped me to shreds, then the next day we were laughing and joking with eachother.
It's all relations, man.

Haha I alwasy hated working at stores. Customers think that they are the gods of the earth when they are shopping at the store you work at. I would love it when customers gave me attitude... they'd say something like... you just lost a customer... and I would say right back to them.. " do you really think i care? I work here for the sole purpose of making money, not satisfying you." Then they would threaten to talk to the manager.... haha i got in trouble a few times, but it was good to put stupid people in their place. Luckily My dad owns a business and i work with him, so i never have to work at another stupid retail store again.
