1995 F150 5.0L Completely Remove Smog Pump?

1995 Ford F150 5.0L 4x4

Anyone know of website/Link or ever done a Complete removal of the smog pump system. I am installing full length Headers on my 95, plus also removing the convertor.

If complete smog pump/air tube system is removed will I have any driveability Issues or will it set any permanent DTCs?

check to see if there is an o2 sensor after the cat if there is you will have to get a dumby o2 sensor witch will put out 450mv other than that you should'nt have any problems

No this system only has 1 O2 before the convertor.....

you wont have any problem then. the pump adds o2 to the cat to convert co to co2

I guess I am a little ill-informed. Dont think this is stupid but what exactly can I remove and is there anything that will have to be plugged/capped or any other mods that will have to be done that you know?

you can take it all off. just plug any vacuum lines and holes in the airfilter box. you will have to put the o2 sensor back in one of the new headers

Would I be better off puting the o2 in the right side header only or should I relocate it and add an H pipe for the equalization and o2?

it would be better to put it in the h-pipe if you can but it would work just fine in either one. by the way where did you find the exhaust the only one I can find is a single pipe that splits off at the back to dauls

I'm bending everything out of aluminized pipe myself. have to, no one will touch it w/o the convertor.

Went through this with a code 44 problem on a 93 5.0. Look at the back of the heads to see if the air piping goes there also. Without air going into the exhaust before the o2 sensor, you could end up with codes.

It does pipe to the back of the heads but the air tube goes into the convertor itself which is after the o2....I actually just got home from getting about half of this done....Took out the oldshorty style headers and cut out the remainder of exhaust...Untill I find out 100% what to do with the smog system I am going to crimp the hoses and weld up the air tube....Had to bend the frame in 3 places to make the full lenth headers fit....Fits like a glove now though....Im pretty excited...Cant wait till the morning to finish everything up and hear how she sounds....

Yes, Ive done it on my Mustang. Go to www.summitracing.com and order their smog pump eliminator bracket. You bolt that on in place of the pump and you can still use the factory pulley. Its for a mustang but im sure it will work on your truck since its the same motor and all. Take out the charcoal box and all the little lines running from it and smog lines. This adds hp. Plug the lines that lead to wherever. Yes i also crimped the smog tube that runs between the heads and welded it. Hope ive helped...PM me if any more questions.
