88 BroncoII engine and Rear end question.

Hi everyone.
Firstly I replaced my rear diff recently with a Posi that I pulled out of an Aerostar van... However now I have a horrible grinding and thunking. It sounds like its wearing out or breaking teeth or something. Anyway I think I'll be needing a new rear end soon. So my question is: What size rear end are in these Bronco II's stock? I think its the 7.5" 29 spline but I could be wrong. Also if anyone knows a good affordable source for the right detroit locker for my bronco I would appreciate it.


My second question is. I have access to a 3.0liter engine in pretty low mileage that runs good. This engine also came out of the aerostar that I got the diff from. Now would this engine even fit in my bronco and would and would there be any noticeable power increase if I did it? Or is this a lower quality engine and a waste of time? Thanks for your help

yeah the early ones were 7.5's 8.5's can be found in newer rangers,explorers for what you would pay for a detroit locker for the 7.5 you could go to the bone yard and get a whole rear with a locker.
check out the rangerstation.com they have a great tech library and i remember reading about swapping the efi to the 2.8 from a 3.0 and a few other things.great site and worth a look.
