KA24de injector on sr20det? Also timing question on sr20det

when i was trying to fix my bent fuel rail.. it flew out of the vice and landed on an injector and broke the plastic peice on the tip and i also lost the o-ring... so i just took an injector off of my ka, fit perfectly.

my engine is not running good yet...i timed it once by putting the 2nd mark from the left lined up with the crank pully mark, and lined up the left dot with the mark on the cam angle sensor. it ran with that timing... the engine would first stay around 2000 rpm and kinda go up and down a few hundred rpm then it would settle at an idle at around 800rpm.. when it was idling it sounded like it had race cams (very heavy lope) i since messed around with the timing.. and now it wont start at all.... any tips?

btw... its a redtop and i did end up buying a new fuel rail

Yea, the 270cc isn't enough. The ECU is sending the signal for a 370cc injector. So you are getting 27%less fuel than normal for that cylinder. ITs a lean cylinder right now. Def get another 370cc ASAP. www.heavythrottle.com sells them.

All KA24DE and SR20DET (stock and aftermarket) side feed injectors are interchangable.

so if i buy side feed 550's for an SR, they will drop right into a KA?

Yep

Any injector that fits the stock SR fuel rail will fit the KA fuel rail.

my old injector was fine... ill just swap over the o ring and maybe the plastic tip if it doesnt break... i called heavy throttle.. they said i dont need the plastic peice on the tip... but would the injector from the ka make a difference just free reving and idling? any tips on timing?

you could go with an ecu for timing, or you could get an msd btm (boost timing master). hit n run you can get side feed injectors that drop right in, but make sure they are low impendance.
btw i think the stock ka injectors are 260cc.

Its an SR20DET correct? Timing is already taken care of. Yes, a smaller injector will make a difference period. Did you lube the O ring when installing? You may just have a leaky o ring. Just try putting the old injector back in.

I have been corrected. They are 260cc. But both the SR and KA use high impedence(saturated) injectors.

high empendance what?

High impedence injectors. 11ohms or so.

to clearify certain things. only the injectors from the RWD SR20's will fit on the late model KA fuel rails. the injectors from the FWD pulsar SR's will not fit. also another alternative would be the late model 95-96 300ZX fuel injectors. when one of my 370cc injectors failed, i called heavythrottle and they sent me a Z injector and it works perfect.

alright, i replaced the injector with the stock sr20det injector... i have to replace my starter/battery cable and time it again... then i will give it another whirl... ill be back in 2 hours to give an update

if you have fuel, air, spark plugs, and your timing is good.... i dont know what to tell you. id say double maybe triple check all of them.
