1989 Acura Legend Shifting Problems/ Automatic

I have tried driving my car and it will take off but i have to start out in low gear and shift my way up or i wont be abke to start, in other words i cant start driving in drive. I have had a couple of quotes on it and i have some people tell me it is a transmission computer problem and i have no idea where it is and the people who tell me this problem is occuring also dont know where it is. Another problem i am having is that when i get shifted up into drive if i am not careful it will shif into manual on its own and thats also what people say is the problem but i am not sure. Looking for any help possible. Thanks.

The only problem with it legends cost alot to fix, so anything small is huge and unless u can drive it still ur best bet is just look for a new car in this case b/c the problem like that, that i also had on my 88 ls was going to cost more to fix then what i paid for the car, u can only deal with it or just get rid of it.
