1997 Olds Shilouette going crazy! HELP!

I just purchased a used 1997 Olds Shilouette van with 62,000 miles. I have had it for one week and am having problems. I will be driving and the ABS light, Air bag light, Battery light come on, heat gauge goes to 3/4 hot and then when I come to a stop and try to take off again, the rpms go up to 2000 or 3000 before I actually start to pick up speed to take off from the stopsign! I just paid $357.00 to have the PCM replaced at the GM dealer because they said the PCM was overcharging my battery by 16 volts and it was doing fine until today. I went to drive it and I realized the fans under the hood were not running at all, so I went to buy new relays and replaced them, thinking that would solve the problem of the fans not running, they did nothing at all. Then all the problems with the lights came back again. I am at a loss, I do not know what to do or where to start looking to fix this problem? Could anyone help me? Could it be a faulty ground in the alternator? Could all these problems be related somehow? The GM dealer could not find any codes and told me he could do nothing more for me until a check engine light comes on and stays on so they can get a code or something. I was wondering if anyone else has had something similar to this? :banghead:

Hello! I would think your alternator is bad.About you having a problem with acceleration from a stop,That could be a problem with your traction control. What is happining with that,Its your front brakes locking up,My 97 olds van did the same thing when my TCS light came on. I would start with a new,(Or rebult) alternator. Are you a do it yourselfer? you could save alot of $$ if you are. Let me know how things turn out.Have a nice day!! diesel1962...

Thank you for your help!. I will definately look into those two possibilities. I appreciate it, I am about at my wits end with this van, it is two weeks old and I have not even really gotten to drive it yet.
Thanks. jacksonboys03

Good evening! This is Diesel 1962.I was wondering if you had the alternator checked yet??Also had a conversation with a few techs at the shop I work at,And we found out that the onboard computer would have nothing to do with overcharging the battery. The alternator has a built in voltage regulator that takes care of that. If an alternator is overcharging,It can really goof things up!! Worse case it can lead to electrical fires. If it did overcharge the battery,I would suggest replaceing that too. Also,Check battery terminals for corrosion..Let me know what happens..Have a good day!!
