interior lamp control module 99 suburban

Can someone tell me where the interior lamp control module is? I searched high and low, could not find anythin similar to what the dealer sold me. I have remote keyless entry and don't think there is such a thing in this truck. My dome light is always on, after hearing clicking , I traced the source to be the remote function activation module. Could this be the problem of dome light always on?

this may not apply to you.
I am not sure if your 99 is the NBS (New Body Style) or OBS (Old Body Style). In my NBS Yukon XL this is governed by the BCM (Body Control Module) located to the right of the steering wheel behind the lower steering wheel cover. It has 3 large connectors arranged horizontally.
I doubt that you bought a BCM, it is not cheap and you have to reprogram it.
Just in case, here is what the book says:
Repair Instructions
Body Control Module Replacement
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable(s).
2. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement (Non Luxury) or Knee Bolster Replacement (Luxury).
3. Disconnect the brown connector.
4. Disconnect all other connectors (1).
5. Remove the BCM from the sliding bracket.
Installation Procedure
1. Slide the BCM onto the bracket.
2. Connect all the connectors (1) except the brown connector.
3. Connect the brown connector.
4. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement (Non Luxury) or Knee Bolster Replacement (Luxury).
5. Connect the negative battery cable(s).
6. Reprogram the BCM. Refer to BCM Programming/RPO Configuration.

It's located under the center of the instrument panel. Look for 5 wires, Pink, Gray, Orange, Black & White. Two other things can be suspect also. The remote lock reciever (located just above the interior light module) and the headlight switch.

it's not there, but I think this is what is going on. I have an alarm in this vehicle, probably not factory. the wire colors you mention lead to this unit (Kaiser VIP 4000), so maybe the lamp module was removed. I do have the remote function actuator module . what do you think?

I forgot to mention the door jam switches as a likely suspect also.
Try this:
1. Disconnect the head lamp switch and close the doors. If the lights go out, it's the switch or a door jam switch.
2. If they stay on, disconnect the door lock module. If they go out, it's the door lock module.
3. You may want to disconnect the alarm module also and see what happens.
There's also the possibility of shorted wires in the system.

I am having the same problem. I replaced the interior headlamp switch and this solved the problem for about 5 days then the lights came on again. I am having to use the over-ride switch to turn them off.
Not sure what to do now........

if it was good for 5 days after doing the switch then it is my suspicion that you moved something that went back to bad over time.
May be a wire touching another, a bad connection so the control module does not know to shut it off?

I doubt it is the module. There is a 99.9% chance it is one or more of the door switches. It is a commom problem on this body style gm truck. I have seen several with the exact same symtoms and not one of them was the module and all where switches.

New problem, when I accelerate the engine is very hesitant. It’s like the engine is not getting enough fuel. Could all this be linked to the truck’s computer or brain box?

It is a 1999 Yukon SLT, 2WD, has always been meticulously maintained. The last time it was in shop (two weeks back), everything checked out ok. During that visit, an A/C modulator valve was put in.

I would go through fuel delivery and ignition procedures. Or have the dealer do it. This could be many things.

Update – It was the fuel pump. So I have a new fuel pump and filter, also had the injectors cleaned. The dealer also checked all of the door switches and they were ok. They said it was the light control switch causing the interior light problem and I should have used a GM switch. Anyway, I let them put a new light control switch in… So $930 dollars later I am driving away from the dealer and the interior lights CAME ON AGAIN… I GIVE UP……..
Another thing I have noticed, the light switch stays illuminated all of the time.

Please try to replace the driver door switch. Easy to do and 5.00 from the dealer. Mine 1998 did the same thing.

I would have turned around and given it back to the dealer and told them for $930 bucks, fix it and don't charge me a cent!

I am going to say this again.. Door switches !! They will appear to work fine when you are testing them, but one of them is not. I would not have believed it on my truck either and I was going to replace the module also except I decided to try the door switches first. I have never had the problem again and have also fixed a few others.

my 98 chevy pu did the same thing AND ran the battery down. After reading this forum and talking to a couple people, I found the passanger side door switch was bad. I removed it and the lights havn't come on since. Try the switches first. Don
