The inside door handle on the drivers side of my 1998 Suburban came loose some how inside of the door. I don't see a way of taking the inside door panel off. Does anyone know what holds the inside panel on? Thanks.

i told someone this on anouther post but here goes again. the door pad is held on by plastic belive it or not carrots. pick up a tool at local parts store, its cheap anuf and will prevent breaking the door pad and most off the carrots. sllide tool betwen pad and door and slide it under pad parralel to pad until you feel a carrot. then pull tool out and slip tool around carrot and push tool towards outside off door. the pad will pop out, now go on to the next one, there should be to or thre on each side and 3, to 5 on bottom. the door handle ascution is held in with clip you'll need a small flat bladed screwdriver 1/8" wide works best slide it between that and doorpad. same goes for light switches .

I appreciate your response. I'll see if I can locate the tool and give it a shot.

Thanks

Yeah, I just took mine apart last week to replace the outside drivers door handle. I used a small screwdriver to move the clips on the inside handle trim and a large flat screwdriver to remove the "carrots". The screwdriver worked fine, you just need to be carefull when popping them out. You will need to unplug all the window and door switches before removing the panel. Also the small panel at the top near the dash has 1 clip that pops out - it needs to come off before the door panel.

I've got he carrot thing figured out... now It seems like the inside door handle assembly is keeping me from getting the panel off. What is it that holds it in place?

I agree - I'm having the same problem (1999 Suburban) but the inside door handle assembly is the last thing holding the door panel on. Does anybody know how to totally remove the door panel after you pop the 'carrots'?
