the three top pny cars of all time are the firebird camaro and mustang. the fist ever pony car was the 1964 1/2 mustang, the performance world has never been the same. whats your personal favorite and why?

(im a chevy lover myself that should tell you enough about my favorite)

I would say the Mustang because they started the whole GT look and were a major player during the muscle car days of the 60's. Plus look at today and see which one of the 3 cars are still around. Not much choice in it the way I see it. :)

I've never really been into the classics, but I very much appreciate modern muscle cars. The 1998-2002 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am WS6 is my favorite, mostly because of the gorgeous looks, affinity for road racing, and brash American attitude. The poor interior and rough ride don't bother me at all - they just make it more of a real muscle car in my opinion :)

1. Mustang - I use to be a Corvette fan and saw Mustangs as alright cars (even though my dad has a very nice 90 5.0). I saw the movies "Gone in 60 Seconds" and saw the 67 Shelby in it and fell in love. That car sparked my interest in Mustangs and I started doing research on them and came to like them.

2. Camaro - It isn't a bad car but it wasn't original and was Chevy's response to the Mustang. Several of them are nice though and I wouldn't mind owning a nice IROC or late model SS.

3. Firebird - I will always feel the Firebird will always live in the Camaro's shadow no matter what. I don't mean to offend any Firebird owners but it's just the vibe I've gotten.

:p

anyway, mustangs are always a favorite pony car. i couldn't care less for other previous 2 gen mustangs though. thankfully ford got with the program for 2005. and there was a couple mustangs i believe the 70's, can't remember, where they made the mustang look like an econobox. i think they called it the mustang II. now this is just ridiculous for a mustang. haha

Of the 1st and 2nd Gen I'd say all even. But for the 3rd gen, I prefer the the F-Bodies, the Mustangs were hideous, although the 5.0's were a bright spot. Of the 4th Gen's, I'd say it was even, I liked the early Camaros best, than when the LS-1's came, the Firebird was my choice, I love the Lt-1 and Ls-1 motors, and I'm not that big of a fan of the styling of these 'Stangs, but the SVT's were amazing.

Overall, I'd say Mustang, but mainly because it's still around, I love the new 'Stang. I'm still upset at GM for letting 'em die. I can't get over it. If it were still here, well that's a different story... I was also thinking, this can't be a good for the Mustang, because products are made better with competition right? Although I'm sure Ford is happy about it ($$$).

It still has competition: mainly the 350Z, the RX-8, and the GTO. But it has had to evolve from pony car to sports car in order to be successful in this field. I'd say Ford did a pretty damn good job.

I always liked the IROC-z camaro's of the late 80's...

the early 2nd gen camaro RS's where cool too. four round tail lights, split bumper and four round headlights, snappy spoiler. A not so subbtle farrari'ish look or insperation.

I like them all! If I had to pick I would probably say Mustang overall.

Must I remind everyone that those other cars owe their existance to the Mustang. I have to go with the mustang simply because of it's symbolic value. It's America's car. A cultural icon. For those reasons the mustang earns my respect no matter the year or model.

AND IT'S STILL TURNING HEADS AND REPRESTING THE GOOD OL' USA TO THIS DAY!!!:1:

Mustang of course. The term "Pony Car" came from the Mustang. The Camero and Firebird arent even being made anymore. The Mustang has the seen the rise and fall of the 'Cuda, Charger, Firebird, Camero, Superbee, Montego, and the likes. It really shows a winning formula on Ford's part.
