Hot Seat/Dead Battery

So the last two mornings my battery has been dead. I broke down and bought another battery today. I got in my 1999 Bravada after lunch and touched the passenger seat getting my glasses and found the seat to be hot as if the seat heater was on. How could that be possible when the keys were in my pocket and the manual also says the seatbelt must be plugged in for the seat heater to work?

Any ideas??

Wow, I don't know what even turns that option on, maybe there's something in the Owners Manual.

The manual says the heat seater doesn't work without the passenger seatbelt hooked up. That is why I am confused. How could the seat heater be on when the switch is in the off position, the vehicle is off and the seatbelt is unhooked. It doesn't seem possible. Possible short to the frame of the seat???

It's been reported before that the power lumbar support wires can short on the seat frame and makes lots of problems...You can check for a power lumbar support fuse or relay, then disconnect it...check your battery voltage dash guage before and after. Come to think of it, any fuse that sparks a little when you pull it while the keyswitch is off means there's a current draw and should be suspect.

Remove your seat bolts, disconnect the seat heater pigtail, run a multimeter on the floor side and see if there is a power. If so you have a short. The seat heater is hooked in via the accessory system which means that the truck must be running (as well as the passenger seatbelt being in).
