1990 --Removal of Hood Latch?

Hello...I've been trying to replace the hood latch on my '90 88. There isn't anything wrong with the cable, but the latch itself was mangled and bent up when i got into a wreck not too long ago.

I've got a junk car sitting in my backyard ('85 98 bougham regency) that I was just going to pull the cable/latch out....but i cant seem to be able to figure out how...

One other option i was looking at was to just replace the latch itself, but the plastic tab that holds the cable to the latch is broken...any way to replace or rig it to the latch out of the junker, or how would i go about pulling the whole cable loose from the pull handle on the inside of my car?

I've pulled away the trim and carpet but i just cant seem to figure it out...any help or diagrams would be appreciated! :)
