ok everyone, i have a friend named Sal, who drives an 03 Mustang GT A/T, with an exhaust. and about a month ago i picked up my Srt-4, no stages or anything, no kicker or sunroof, just the base srt-4. i dont have 1000 miles on it yet, so i refuse to race him or anyone for that matter. its been killin me too cause hes been talkin so much Fing shit about how hes gonna leave me in his exhaust. theres about 1 and 1/2 mile strip of road by us which is completely empty at night, with no cops. we planned on racing from a dig, until whenever we run out of road. Am i really going to get smoked? or is he going to sh*t a rainbow colored brick when he sees a blue SRT4 blow by him? [i'm a decent driver too, incase you were gonna ask that question lol.] thanks for all the input. later.

The 03 Gt's post slighty better #'s than an SRT 4. You'll prolly get beat, but it won't be an ass raping. If I was you, i'd race him from a roll as well. FWD+dig= slow launch or wheel spin even with a limited slip.

Considering that the 'Stang is auto, the best it's gonna do is low 14's. If you are a really good driver, you can beat it.

A SRT-4 is faster than an Automatic Mustang GT, ive seen times on my track many times...of course turbos are not affected "as much" by high elevations, but mustang Gts run about .8 seconds slower, which is a shitload of time.
Go and kick his ass.

I've read reviews of the 05 automatic Gt doing high 13's same as an SRT 4. What's this about a .8sec advantage for the neon? If the neons you saw at the strip were doing low 13's, they weren't stock bud.

Please read the post, Porsche_Daddy. The Mustang GT in question is an '03.

Hello fallas, My first post. lol
I would say you will beat him with your SRT-4.
I think depending on how you launch your car would determine how far away you would pull off his 03 Mustang GT A/T. On a bad launch, you should be at least 1 car length away. If you fail that stang might kill you with his 8 cylinder. 1.5 miles is enough for an V8 A/T Stang. Get used to your car and get a good launch. GL

considering its an auto u should definately take him (on a 1.5 mile stretch u should have him by quite a bit with that extra gear), if it was a manual id call it a drivers race, those little neons are a kick in the crotch good time, have fun with it and let us know how it goes.

SRT4 is gonna take the win unless you suck at driving...the Mustang GT AT is gonna be slow 0-60 probably in around low 6 seconds so dont be a slouch...you can take him...

and the results are in...
0-35mph - Stang by 1/2 car length
35-50mph - SRT4 catches up
50+ - SRT4 walks stang
not much of a story, but i thought i would keep it sweet and simple.
thanks for the support again guys.

35-50mph...what kind of baby racing is this? I mean I know we are not supposed to condone ISR but at least race til 70-80 mph (ie highway speeds) which is where you should have done your racing or on some deserted back road or in an industrial park well after business hours.
Supra guys go from 40-140mph...now that's a true test of speed.

I think he was giving individual section reports, not three different race reports.
