Power Locks

I have a 98 Taurus, and I have power locks. When I push the power lock to lock the door, it automatically jumps back up, and my dome lights stay on as well. I tried slamming the door, putting the key in the lock, and turning it serveral times, but still have no success. Any solutions?

Since your dome light is on it appears that the door is not closed. This can be caused by a switch in the door lock area. Is the door ajar light on the dash also lit up?
One common problem with these Tauruses has been the lock mechanism giving a false indication that the door is not closed, resulting in the dash light and dome light stayng on. The solution that usually works is to spray the lock mechanism with WD-40 or the like.

TomV is correct. I had the same situations with my 98' SE. I hadbasically taken the bulb out of the dome light. You will see in the left hand side of your dash, the indicator for a door ajar. as long as this is lit, meaning your car is running, you cant lock the door, for fear of locking your keys in if you leave, and the lights, dome, and foot lights will remain on until the light goes off. open your doors, and look for the locking arm inside the door. unload a can of WD40 like TomV reccomends and work the lock and bit, close the door, open it, make sure it gets worked in real good. do this for all the doors, unless you can pinpoint which door it is, but its better to be on the safe side and doo it to all 4 doors.
