squealing

Ok when my car is fully warmed up this problem even happens. I will goto drive the car and it will squeal like hell from under the hood. It is really embarrassing and im pretty sure my NT had this same problem last winter. My mom took it the machenic though and had him fix it so I have no clue what it was. I dont think it was much money and im pretty sure it is a common dsm problem(1g anyways). Im wondering what it is? It only does it when i am first driving the car.

Your belts arent tightened enough. Maybe just a little off, and the cold weather just makes it seem worse.

belts. check the power steering pump belt first since i doubt you are using your ac right now lol. make sure the belt isn't cracked and that its tight.

ahh the dreaded belt squeel,mine was the alt. it took 2 weeks for me to get it set right, kinda hard to adjust the thing if you ask me. I to this day don't know if I fixed it or if the belt finally broke in.

Mine as well was the alternator. It did take some time to fix it up right. Just be sure not to use anything to silence the squeek, all you are doing is covering up a problem that way.
