My 79 Bronco's rear window won't work :-(
It's connected to the battery... both fuseable link and 20AMP fuse are ok. But there's no power to the rear window?
Hooking 12VDC to the motor does work.
But neither the rear key switch or the inside dash switch send power to the motor. Is there some type of "lockout device" built into this? (like if the rear door is slightly open.. or down or something like that.. the window won't work?

mikeca, check dash switch- in my case the switch was bad disabling the key switch on the door! my truck is a 93' bronco and there are switches where the door catches on each side, disabling the motor so when the door is open , the window can't be used.

k, we did check the switch on the dash. It is not getting power. The switch in the back is not getting power.
the link fuse (directly off the selenoid) is ok... the 20amp fuse under the dash is ok.
seems like i need to run a new 12vdc line to the switch? but we tried that... all mixed up cuz we don't know what wire goes to what (lots of hot wires and sparks:-)
i've look for some sorta wiring diagram but havent dfound anything.
i was thinking there must be some sorta lock out switch that disables all switches if the real gate is not all the way closed... but i cant get the thing open to look :-)
any other ideas? and thanks!

I had the same problem. As it turns out there is an enabling / disabling capability inside the latch (those jaws which clamp onto the posts on either side of the tailgate when it closes) on the driver's left hand side of the tailgate.
In my case I could get operate the motor using a jumper, the switches had power, but using the switches would not operate the motor.
To fix this I simply had to replace the rubber washer on the left post which the tailgate latches onto. Since the washer was missing, the jaws didn't close into the proper position disabling the motor.
There is a lockout condition so the window doesn't deploy when the tailgate is open.
If you mess around with the latch on the left side of the gate you can see what I mean.

cool.. but...well... I found that behind the red tail light plastic (driver's side) there are 3 wires that pass through there that go to the tailgate? I checked all three wires... no power in any of them.
I remember when it did work, that the key on in the tailgate always operated (engine off or on)... so wouldn't one of those wires have to be hot all the time?
So now the problem is finding where that wire is broken or if there's some other fuseable link hidden. I hate this. I know the wire starts out with some type of metal fuse thingy attached right to the selenoid. and I tested the wire after that fuse and it's ok.
