do you have rims? a body kit? are you going show or performance? imho, it's a waste of money... but do what you want.

and you can make ANY kit shut off from the inside of the car. your friend can even make his able to do it. you just gotta know how to wire shit up.

When you wire it up, place the positive wire around a headlight fuse "tooth" and ground the negative wire to some metal bolt or something ... That way they will turn on and off with your headlights ... You won't run your battery down then playa

when you wire them, you gotta connect them to a power source, and for most flashy cars, there's usually 4-5 places to do this...

one is to tap the power to the headlights
two is the power to the stereo receiver
three is the cigarette lighter
four is to use your amp if you have one

there's advantages to each of them, easiest is probably the cigarette lighter because the kits usually come with adapters that you just plug in when you want light, then pull out when you don't want light anymore... wiring into the headlights will turn the kit on when you power your lights on and off when you turn them off... stereo receiver will turn it on when your car powers on... amp will turn the lights on when your speakers/subwoofers receiver power (creating a pulsing effect)...

I personally wired my two interior neons to my amplifier which was powering my subs, and when the bass hit, the lights came on... if it hit a little, the lights were dim, if it boomed real hard, the lights lit up the car... it was nice... my friend has his wired the same way in his van (interior neon lights) but it's possible to wire an exterior neon/LED kit the same way... just be careful not to short anything or cross anything cuz you could screw up your lights, your power source, and even your cars entire electrical system :|

if you want to turn them on and off, the simple solution is to splice the wires and make a switch... as soon as I get my exterior neons in, I'm dual wiring them and my interior neons to individual on/off switches wired to a middle-off/on/on switch

like this:
interior ... exterior
on/off ... on/off
.....\........../
.......\....../
........\.../
..........V
..........|
..........|
....on--off--on
....|...........|
....|...........|
....|...........|
...cig.......amplifier
lighter

sorry for the poor diagram... basically, I'll have a power switch for interior and one for exterior, both wired to a single switch which will control the source of the power... one of the source positions will be wired into my cigarette lighter (constant on...) and the otehr source position will be wired to my amp (pulsing to bass) all together, the switches will cost you about $10 from ratshack (read: radioshack) and the wiring should already come with your kits... if you need extra wiring, pick it up while you're at radio shack...

pimp that ride, son... haha! - Tru
