i got this in an email from a friend and it compleatly stumped me so i was wondering if any of you have any idea what is wrong with the car. please excuse the grammer i don't have enough time to go thru and fix all the errors.
"There are 2 seprate problems which relate. There is something wrong with the electronics behind the gas petal and pouttin the car in gear. Ok you get in the car (running) and put ur foot on the brake, then u put the car in drive (automatic) then you let off the brake and the press the gas (same foot) the trani grans but themn pops out of gear (high reving and stops moving). However if u push the brake then put it into drive, then while in gear hold the brake while u just touch the gas petal with ur foot (almost slight contact) and wait a sec the car grabs in gear (slight lurch) and then the car will work mint and won't slip so long as u dont take it out of gear thats why I can't point the cause to a bad trani cuz it runs sooo mint once it goes into gear.
Problem number 2...of 56483673467
If u leave the car off for prolonged periods (overnight) there seems to be another problem. If the car isn't warm the trani slips/comes out of gear a little. This is differant then the previous problem (or at least I strongly think so). If the car runs for say 20-30 minutes and then you drive it it won't slip however if u start it cold and take off it slips until itets warmed up. I tested this by starting the car and letting it run. Then after i drove somewhere i would let the car be for 2-3 hours. If i got back in it was still warm enough for it not too slip. But after i left it for 6+ hours or overnight it would slip until warmed. Yet again the car runs so nice once it warms up so I still don't feel I have a bad transmision. I think these problems are electrical because if a trani is stripped or slipping it does it all the time or just plain worse when a car is warm. Also the car had been sitting for 5 years in my yard (was my sis's but never fixed it so i bought it and fixed the intitail problem:stripped tourque converter)
I did bring the car to have it looked at. ACME transmision which only works on transmisions disapointed me with their analysis of the car. I drove there through rush hour (stop and go traffic) and the car hadn't slipped due to the fact i knew how to put the car in gear and to let the car warm up. I told the mechanic on the phone and in person about the first problem and how to avoid it. When i got there i told him again of the first problem and the second problem. Then i left a note on the shifter on how u have to hold brake and touch gas just to make sure (i had wanted to know what was wrong with trani..not petal). When my dad went to get the car (i was at work) the mechanic said the trani is shot, $1800 to replace it. "I don't know how you drove it here, we had to push it back into the garage becaus ethe trani was slipping so bad, all ur clutch packs are burnt out, u need a new trani" quote dumbasses. Now don't tell me i drove a car with burnt clutch packs through the city during rush hour. My dad got in the car and drove it home without it slipping at all....i'm done with mechanics. Because if after that $1800 fix and i have a car with the exact same probelms then what? do i get a dammed refund? no. So i was going to try to fix it myself but i am lost...dam electronic stuff."

I am not sure what the problem is, but I do not think that it would be electrical. It sounds to me to be something that is mechanical.
