Okay Guys,

So I recently purchased a 96 Ford Taurus GL and I don't have the manual. What type of Anti-Freeze do I purchase? It looks at though my anti-freeze is orange...is this some special type?

I know this isn't a definitive answer for you, but just to get you started... The manual for my 2002 Taurus states that you should ONLY replace the coolant with the same color coolant as what you took out. Further, it also states that my car should only have green or yellow coolant, NOT orange. Good luck!

You can pull up the manual at Ford's web site...but I think all taurus cars at least to 2000 uses the Green antifreeze....Most GM cars in the 90's and 2000's use the Orange type...maybe the previous owner changed types....when the Green stuf gets weak.it becomes a yellow color...are you sure thats not what you are seeing?

I recently went thru the auto part stores for a green coolant for my '02. Can only find the type that mixes with all colors and brands. Unless you can find someone with some old stock, that's all there is.
