Looked around a bit

Read through 8 pages, didn't quite see my problem.

I have a 94 Taurus 3.0. My problem is smoke coming through the air conditioning vents near the winshield after I drive for about 10 minutes.

Any idea what this could be? I can't really explain the smoke's smell. Sometimes I think it smells like radiator fluid but then often times I don't think it smells like that.

I flushed and replaced my radiator fluid. There are no leaks, and the stuff is clean. I did a 50/50 mixture, so that is ok as well.

I am due for an oil change but haven't had the time to do it. I tried actually, but I couldn't remove my oil plug. So I have to take it somewhere, unless someone knows how to get those off, and I haven't had much time or money to do so. Could it be related to this?

Any help is appreciated.

Smoke or steam? If your heater core has sprung a leak, then you would get steam out of those vents, condensation on the windshield, and rubber/coolant stink in the cabin. So, smoke or steam?

Well I think it may be steam. I just cleaned my winshield today, turned on the heater to get a "scent" and it fogged it up and it was kind of wet to the touch.

It sort of smells like celery stalks.

Anyhow, thank you for your input.

Yeah, that sounds like a leaking core. I would replace it ASAP so it does not get any worse, otherwise you could be geting some wet and stained carpeting.

Well thats the thing, its been doing this for a while. But I haven't had any wet carpeting. There is no radiator fluid on the passenger side. There hasn't been any fluid on the street where I park either. My radiator is also full, so its not losing fluid.

So, maybe its a hose block. I'm not sure.

Either way, I will definately look into replacing the core.
