iI have a 1988 Camry with a 3sfe eng. I'm getting a code 24 when testing. Air intake temp sensor circuit. This seems to line up with how the car is running. Erratic cold start and idle, slow idle then dies when warm. I can't find the location of the sensor in my Haynes manual. Any help would be appreciated.

3sfe motors should look similar to 5sfe motors. So basically the sensor should be near the throttle body. Um, guessing underneathe the intake pipe before the airbox. Can't really miss it. Try cleaning the sensor along with the throttle body and see if you still get the code. If indeed it is damage then go buy a new air intake sensor. There might be 2 sensors for your motor, not sure.

IAT sensor on the 5SFE is right in the air filter enclosure, on the side, above the replaceable element.

I think i killed the sensor with spray cleaner. It will idle with the MAF wire disconnected but won't stay running now. Off to the junkyard.

Replaced sensor with salvage part, no change in performance. Any ideas besides what my code scanner said?
