Hey, I was looking for a new motor for my arriving TC3, while i was lookin around I noticed there are motors that are double and single. Can someone please exlpain to me whats the difference and whats better? Like 13 Turn Double, or 13 turn Single. Thanks

That refers to the number of wires wrapped around the armature. A 13 turn double would be 2 strands wrapped 13 times. A 13 turn single would be 1 wire wrapped 13 times. If I remember correctly, the double wires have more torque. Single wires, more speed.

Thanks, just one more thing. Can do a burnout with smoke with a 15 double turn motor???

Well, in a word...no. Not even with a 7 turn single wind. I think it's not so much the speed of the motor, but the wieght of the car. You might be able to do it in one of two ways. One, get(or make from a 4WD car) a RWD car and set up a third servo to clamp down on a brake disk on the front axle. With the front wheels locked, and the rear wheels spinning, you might be able to smoke the tires (remember, do not use foams...this would only work with rubber tires). Two, put castor oil on the tires. I can't remember where, but I read someplace that that is how the guys in Hollywood get the tires to smoke on cheap FWD 4 cylinder cars for action movies or TV (save on budget if they don't have to spend money on putting a big engine in the car). Also, on the first one. If locking up the front wheels doesn't produce tire smoke, try a harder compound of rubber and use the castor oil trick.

In general, more turns = more torque and lower RPM. And vice versa, less turns = less torque and higher RPM. The number of winds describes how abrubtly the motor accelerates. Fewer winds = abrupt acceleration. More winds = smoother acceleration.
