I took my 1999 Windstar into the Ford dealership at the end of December because the van started shuttering between 1st and 2nd gear practically every time we accelerated. I thought shit here we go, new transmission time. Well after doing a diagnostic test Ford told me that I had an internal coolant leak in the #2 cylinder and that they needed to remove the heads to inspect and test them. After removing the heads and inspecting whatever they inspect they reported back to me saying that the heads needed to be resurfaced and I also had some broken valve springs plus I needed a new set of spark plug wires and of course spark plugs too. On top of all that they said that my idler pulley was shot and they needed to replace it and of course we needed a new serpentine belt. All this work for oh just a mere $3110.00. Well I picked up and paid the $3110.00 like some idiot knowing damn well I’d been taken or let me put it this way Fleeced is more like it. Guess what the van still shutters between 1st and 2nd like it did before I took it in. Should they have to fix the problem and pay for it themselves or am I shit out of luck here?

Dealership service typically does guarantee work they have done, but they will charge you for anything additional they *find*. $3100 is a ton of money. Are you getting a check engine light? have you read the codes? ALWAYS post them here before you work/have work done on the van.
