why does the srt-4 have 8.1:1cr? and what would happen if you put in some 9.0:1cr pistons? Wouldnt the hp jump up like crazy? and it's still plenty low enough compression to be turbo friendly.
Also how much hp can the stock block handle?

if you bump up compression, you cant handle as much boost as the srt is putting in. you will ALWAYS make more power with a lower compression high boost motor than an higher compression low boost setup. besides, it is covered by a 7 year 70,000 mile warranty! so you cant be too agressive with the stock setup. yes you can run higher compression, but why do that when you can just up the boost - you will make more power that way, and its cheaper and easier

power of the block, do you mean the stock motor as a whole, or the actual block. the professional 7 second SRT4 team is running stock block, crank, and heads. the pistons are cast so the car will only handle about 500hp but will also be throwing out more than 500lb/ft of torque. if you just replace the pistons, some guys are running more than 600 right now - all other internals are OEM. so its not bad for a for a 4cyl!

What i meant was how much hp will the stock sleeves handle. so all you need is stronger pistons and a bigger turbo and you can just crank up the boost w/out getting stronger sleeves, rods, valvetrain?

Also how much hp is the stock turbo good for?

stock turbo is good for probably a max of 325 relaibly. but the torque starts at 2000rpm, and goes from there. so its designed to make instant power with no lag. quick spool not big power. like i said, guys are running 600+hp with all OEM parts, except for pistons and turbo, oh and incidentals like proper injectors and a computer to control it. but motor internals are all stock except for the somewhat weak cast pistons.
