An end to "THE WAR"

I am getting tired of this whole Import vs American Car argument....
Read these points very carefully befor you flame(I understand that flaming is inevitable)

1) Body Kits.....

Yes I admit that some imports have unessisary body kits but many cars have them so its pointless to hate body kits(IE SALEEN Mustang)
And no not everyone does it to make there car look fast.. that comment shows ignorence... its a work of art.. maybe not in your mind but maybe to the imports owner, people just put the 2 togethor becuase the cars in movies like the fast and the furious we fast and had them....

2) HP/ Torque

Yes maybe your mustang or charger, camero, ect. has more torque then a honda civic but can it handle like one???Muscle cars are great for drag and drag is a fun thing to do but high speed turns are also exciting... and although you may only need to drop in $1k for a super charger and have 500hp or w/e you guys also pay much more for for your vehicles, imports are like mustange in the late 60s, a dime a dozen, they are light and inexpensive and easy to find cheap parts for.. i come from a low class family and we do not have the money for a nice american car
i would kill for a 03 cobra i would kill for a 94 gt, but i am settleing with a 91-92 toyota supra because its cheap and gets good gas mileage

3) 4 cylinder v6 v8 inline6(no geo metro 3 cylinders tho)

smaller engines are 1 more fuel eficient and are lighter and sometimes easier to fix

4)Whiny rice boys

ok people talk about whiny rice boys but some of the same people are ignorent motor heads that are just as biased as the imort boys are

5) Rice

The #1 thing that i hate is the word rice referring to imports.... last time i checked europe was also across an ocean..... but yea

as i said flame if you want just read first... I love muscle cars but i also have a great respect for imports.... I just want to know who else thinks that its time for this "WAR" to end

Ummm, no.

Wait, no...

O.K, No

Your post shows too much ignorance. Perhaps you should read more of those import vs domestic threads you say you "hate" so much before you post something about them. Or if you are just here to start something please don't, its quite obvious.

Somebody please lock this thread.

Since I was late joining automotiveforums and didn't get a chance to debate when all those "import vs. domestic" threads flooded the place, I'll post my :2cents: before this thing gets closed. I'll keep it really simple because I don't feel like typing a whole lot.

1. America had the bigger better cars in the 60s, Europe had an edge in some areas
2. America couldn't deal with the gas crunch in the 70s, the Japanease could, they can get horsepower out of the smallest drops of gas, America needs gallons before they get the power
3. America is still using old, outdated technology, they are starting to slowly get with the times
4. Japan is getting with the times and using technology with their small engines, Americans still thinks "there's no replacement for displacement" Japanease are prooving this wrong, Europe has been for a very long time
5. when America gets with the times as well though, they can match or beat the Japanease, same with the Europeans
6. Japan would rule the American and European car market if they took the technology used in their motorcycles and used it in their cars
7. I think people look down on the Japanease cars because of what the Fast and Furious did to them...had a reverse affect on the Supra though
8. Europe probably has the edge over the two in the end though

Wow...

1. I hate body kits for the most part, there will be no changing my mind. I'll never put one on a car I own and if I were to buy one with a body kit I'd prolly rip it off before I leave with the car. However there are a few body kits that I don't hate, the ones that look a little more laid back.

2. Uh...I hope you're talking about the old Mustangs, Chargers, and CamAros here because I think the new ones could hold their own if not beat a Civic in the handling department. Anyone have a Civic's slalom speed...Just for reference here's some numbers that I got pretty quickly
'03 Mustang Mach 1-65.5 mph
'02 CamAro SS-63 mph

3. Smaller engines are not always more fuel efficient. My Eclipse averages around 17 mpg with me driving it like an asshole. My mom's V-6 Grand Caravan is always in the 22-25 mpg range even when I had to drive it when my car wasn't working so well, and that van is huge compared to my car. I know you said sometimes but I'm going with my experience here as far as working on 4 cylinders...it's a bitch. As far as them being lighter I have no idea I have no experience there.

4. Anytime I've ever seen a car riced out with the body kit, neons, huge "racing" rims, loud stereo, fart can exhaust, chopped springs, etc. It's been a "whiny rice boy" driving, every single time. I know one person that's done all of that stuff to his Del Sol and I raced him and I "beat him like a stray dog" and he whined about not getting a good start, so we raced again. This time he forgot to turn off his A/C, we raced again and he said his clutch was going...he went home with his tails between his legs.

5. Rice is a generalised statement refering to cars that for the most part are all show and no go.

On your comment about ending the "war" I don't think it's a war really. It's more of a debate that gets out of hand every now and then. Personally I think it's a fun debate because there's so many different point of views, and I have no preference one way or the other...I appreciate cars for what they are be it performance, luxury, off-road, or shitbox.

*edit* Well summed up Muscletang.

yea i know
1.. i agree some kits are too much for me
2.. civic was just the frist car that came to mind and yea you got a point that america is getting up to date
3.. 4cylinder vs v8 driven the same way(not beating the crap out of it, I shouldnt be talking) the 4 cylinder will more then likly beat it out
4.. kits neons yea but whiny rice boy?? it has nothing to do with the car... hes more then likely a prick who just cant make friends so he wants to fit in(no offense)
5.. thats what i mean tho many of the cars are all show and no go because they were ment for show... and well yea i raced my 94 vision because of the thrill even when i know i would lose...that could be the case with these kids... we are anxious and impressionable.... and war is just being used as a metephor .....

but yea i see where your comming from, thanks for not going all out flame on me..... im only 16 and well yea i dont know the most about cars yet.... and yea youd probably make me feel really stupid really easy :D

ok not gonna flame but i have a few opinions on this thread myself...

Yes maybe your mustang or charger, camero, ect. has more torque then a honda civic but can it handle like one???

um...those f-bodies are no slouch on the track. and you can make mustangs and such handle just as well as an average import car with the same amount of money it takes to make that 4 cyl honda as fast as a that same muscle car on the drag.

imports are like mustange in the late 60s, a dime a dozen, they are light and inexpensive and easy to find cheap parts for..

there are more imports thans 240sx's and civic's...some of the most rarest cars in america are japanese imports and there are a lot of japanese import cars that parts are not cheap for. ever heard of a NSX, mazda rx7 (93-97?), toyota supra (93-98), nissan 300zx (90-96), or mitsubishi 3000gt. these cars are not cheap and neither are their parts. they are also very scarce...i dont know about the others but since i own a Z32 i know their were only about 80,000 of these imported in to the states and about half of these have been demolished. that leaves less than 40,000 of these cars roaming the streets. compare that to the muscle cars of the day.

smaller engines are 1 more fuel eficient and are lighter and sometimes easier to fix

they are usually more fuel efficient and lighter. again it depends on which imports you are talking about. dont think the japanese dont make powerful engines. they create some engines that can withstand just as much power as a v8. im sure all of you have heard the RB series engines. yeah i wont even get into it...or how about the 2JZ???

BTW: im not trying to start an argument...just want to add to your post and clarify that there are more imports than civic's...

no choice but to close this thread fellas. there's a reason why there's a rule against these kinds of threads and that very reason will become evident if i allow this thread to progress. thank you.
