Okay, this is going to be a dumb question, and though I do have vague ideas, what are the differences between a Caprice, Caprice Classic and the Brougham models?

Any recommendation of which to purchase?

Thanks!

I always thought it referred to the different types of model. The Caprice was the base model, the Caprice Classic was a step up with more options, and The Brougham was the top of the line model with more options standard. I've seen some Broughams in the past that had the full padded vinyl roofs, plush cloth interior, AM/FM stereo, bigger V8 engine. nicer rims. I don't see too many of the Broughams anymore, so if you come across one of those , they might be worth more. A check of any of the used car values sites can confirm this.

In the early days, Caprice was an upscale Impala.

The different names (Classic and Brougham) are different trim levels (Classic is kinda like the LS of today and the Brougham is like the LT).
