It's about time someone (Tamiya etc) made the New Pajaro or some of the other Dakar vehicles.

That would be very welcome indeed. In particular the Evo 3 Pajero which looks great in it's new Repsol livery.

There is a thread about poor Fabrizio in the rally forum.

I absolutely agree. This years Pajero really is a great looking car.

Already two deaths this year (52 in all editions). Is it the world's most dangerous rally? (But still they have gorgeous cars)

*Hyperkinetic remembers the twin-engined DAF-trucks which ran faster on the straights than Ari Vatanen's Peugeot 405...

The Nissan looks a bit weird but cool. :)

I would definitely enjoy building some of the new Dakar racers, bikes and all!

Yeah, you're so right hiroboy, but hey, I don't think it will be today that we ll ever see a dakar vehicle made in scale...
Although I m pretty sure I d buy either one coming out, and particularly the VW.

Tamiya made some of the early '90's ones, and most of the modern racers are available in 1/43, so they are available in scale ;)

I agree, I wish Tamiya or Hasegawa would do a range of Paris-Dakar models again. The Peugeot 405T16GR models and the Pajero from Tamiya were really cool models. Even if they don't produce todays cars there have been some really nice cars since the early nineties like the Citroen's.

yes, we need some more of the endoro rally kits, I would love to build Robby Gordons VW

I'd like to build a Dakar related kit, for example: I'd love to build a Bowler.

I don't know of any Dakar kits, but I do know there are some models you can buy. I've seen a couple dakar range rovers, and ofcourse, Daf trucks. My dad has 2 Daf models (including the one with 2 engines).

I agree there. Tamiya have only ever produced the Peugeot 405T1GR and Mitsubishi Pajero Dakar models over 10 years ago now. I think it is about time we had some new ones. I could sit here all day and write about all the cars I wish were produced, but would the model companies listen, no.

Like the one in your sig for example?

That would be nice, but I wouldn't bet on Tamiya for this...

If you feel like some scratch-building, you can make 1/28th scale versions of many of them: Kyosho produced several Pajeros, Pajero Evos, and Toyota bodies for their 1/28th scale R/C car lineup. The bodies are basically pre-decorated plastic model bodies, and look great.

Bburago also sells the old Schlesser Renault Megane buggy with a die-cast body, which is I believe 1/27th scale. I have one of the pre-built ones and one of the kits too.

There are resins of quite few Dakar vehicles available if you go the 43rd route... I have a PM Pajero from two years ago some where that has openening doors and rear end, it's a nice kit an might be available again now the company has 'reformed'.

Tamiya Tamiya screw them.

Hasagawa should do it. They rule.

Gunze made the Paris Dakar 959 which is 1/24th, I am waiting to build this one, but this is an older subject than the aforementioned Tamiya releases even.

FIRST I AM PISSED. Speed TV is not showing Dakar this year. WTF???? does anyone in the USA know of any coverage being aired?

Second.... Burago does make a VW Schlesser kit but its a die-cast body. this is probably the most recent Dakar kit available. i want the Nissan truck kit of course. the one McRae destroyed last year. :grinyes:

First A: Outdoor Life Network will be airing a race recap begining on the 22nd. I'm not sure how many hours or what it will entail, but they got the rights over Speed, for whatever reason. Too much NASCAR to spare a second I guess.....

Second A: The Schlesser car Bburago makes a Renault Megane, which he used until 2001 or 2002. He then switched to a Ford Focus, which is really little more than different headlight decals.

Why not the one he destroyed this year? :lol2:

Ninco (Slot, 1/32) has some Dakar cars: Mitsubishi Pajero, BMW X5. Some pick-ups, also.
Quite detailed, could be a good base for a model... or could be trashed in a slot circuit! :iceslolan

The "Schlesser Focus" was in fact the "Schlesser Megane" with anoter name... and some new decals. It started life as "Schlesser Buggy" and changed name according to the sponsor...

Is you want a lot of Dakar models, you have to go die-cast...
