I have a 2000 windstar and a couple of days ago the passenger side automatic door started opening and closing on its own (without pushing any buttons on the keyfobs). I'm suspecting the neighbors garage door opener is the culprit, but am not certain. Is this possible? or is something else wrong? At this time, it only does this when the van is at the house.
Appreciate any help

Hi, I've got one of those too. Been doing this off and on now for 4.5 years. Document everything. Called NHTSA and logded a complaint. Damned thing tried to open up on the wife going down the road.Email me at jgunser@peoplepc.com

Junser,
Thanks, I'll register with NHTSA. Were you able to fix your problem? If so, how?

First thing to try is to clean the pad and plunger with a soft cloth. If you want to diagnose it or work on it yourself there is a recent TSB that covers all aspects of the sliding doors including troubleshooting. See if a Ford dealer will give you a copy or you can invest in an ALLDATA.com subscription.

lewisnc,
Cleaning the contacts was the first thing I did, but it didn't seem to help. I'll contact Frod to see if I can get a copy of the TSB, thanks for the suggestion. Do you think that one of my keyfob could be causing it?
