Hard Starting Burb

Hey everyone I have a 96 suburban with the 5.7 vortec. When I leave it sit for a week it is really hard starting, but once i get it started it seems to run perfectly, and will start every time after that unless I let it sit for a week or so. Any input would be great thanks.

I would also like to hear some input on this. I have a '95 Suburban, 5.7L. If it sits for more that 5 hours, it cranks awhile before starting. But, if you turn it over shortly after shutting off (2-3 hours), it cranks right up. It has new plugs, wires, cap, rotor and even a new Fuel Filter... Thanks.

lONG CRANK TIMES = low fuel pressure.

I agree, long cranks equals fuel problems or lack there of! My 97 Burb took longer and longer to start until my fuel pump went out completely. You may also want to check the check valve and /or pressure regulator, it sounds like fuel may be leaking back in to the tank so you're losing the built up pressure when it sits for a while.

I have tested the guel pressure with key on engine off and it is at 60p.s.i. when i crank and when it is running it maintains 56p.s.i. so I am not sure that the fuel pressure is the problem. But thanks for the input and I hope to hear some more tips on what to look for.

And what is the running fuel pressure specs.
Do you all know that a 3 to 5 psi drop in pressure can cause all kinds of funny things to happen

I tried something today. Since mine only does it after it sits awhile (4 hours or so). After letting it sit all night, I turned the key on let it sit for a sec. Then cranked it. Started much quicker. I think my Fuel Presure Reg. might be leaking down.

Now I'm just trying to trouble shoot this Code 22. The bad part is, it's only intermitent... so I can't really chase it. Any advise is still welcome.

The running spec is 56-62 p.s.i. so this should be sufficient pressure to allow the unit to run I would think.

I have found a bullettin that suggests that the start relay #1 may be the problem I unplugged the relay and cranked it over and it wouldn't fire. When I switched the relay with the A/C relay it fired up and ran fine so I hope this is the problem. I will let you guys know in a few weeks.
