Both brake lights out

Last night, another driver informed me that my brake lights were out. I don't know how long they've been out, if they went out at the same time, or what. The middle light works with no problems. I replaced the fuse with the extra provided in the fuse panel but it didn't fix it (I knew that would be too easy). I plan on replacing both bulbs. Is it strange to have both out at the same time or should I just replace them and see what happens? I figured if it was the stop light switch, the middle light would not come on. That leaves me to believe it's the bulbs. Could it be anything else? No trailer attachments involved.

It is more like your brake bulbs. If one bulb blew out, the other will be getting more electricity and glow brighter and then probably burn out pretty fast soon and which it did since both bulbs are not working.

Just get a new bulb at your local autoparts and replace it. Get a dielectric grease and put a little on the connector end of the bulbs before you put them on.
