I own a 1989 Fullsize Bronco XLT. I recently had a new CD player installed and I am now am looking to replace the front two 6.5 inch speakers. Although they work great I do not know how to get the door panel off to replace them. Also i would prefer not to spend $50 to have this done for me. Any help wpuld be greatly appreciated!

Start with the screw in the armrest. Then find the screws that edge the door panel. The two fasteners are screws and plastic-pop-stops behind the panel. Be careful when Pulling the door loose. You can separate the Pop-Stop from the panel, rather than the door. (Replacements can be found at the local Loew's Hardware, if nothing else.) You'll have to pick the panel UP once you have it separated to clear the door lock. You will have to turn the panel 90 degrees if you want to remove it from the door latch. (If you have power windows/locks - disconnect them before trying to remove the panel!!!!) Be careful with that step, getting the panel back ONTO the door latch is a world-class headache...don't remove it unless you have to.

You're going to find Weather-seal in there. (A plastic drape glued to the metal of the door to keep water off the panel.) and you'll find your Speaker-leads running through the rubber connector into the body frame. (I cut the factory leads off my stock wires to connect the speakers, rather than f*around with running new cable.)

Thanks alot it worked great. Rather than taking off the entire panel i just loosened it enough for a screwdriver. The speakers were screwed in awkward so I hope the duct tape helps haha.
