93 vr4 has a 14.1 quarter, yet for absolutely free and 15 seconds of your time you can turn it to 12psi with the free boost mod and run 13.6 I've got a 96 vr4 and wouldn't have any problems with a GT or LT1. LT1 might catch up way after 100.
Of course the vr4 will be harder to find in good condition.
I consider an ls1 or cobra to be more in the vr4s circle.

Depends on the track. Most tracks, I'd give it to the VR-4, but on a very smooth and wide track, the LT1 could take it.

Stock 91 3000GT runs 9psi if it's in good condition and can run 1/4 in 13.8 with good driver !
From 94 to 99 , the Turbo Psi raised to 12psi and it can run 1/4 in 13s flat !
I am agreed with you that LT1 might catch up after 100MPH but it can't catch up with 94+ 3000GT ..

Mustang GT is not comparable with those Monsters !
Mustang GT level is with S2000 , Slivia and ..etc
1995 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am 5.6 14.0
1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 5.3 13.8
1994 Ford Mustang GT 6.7 15.1
There is no doubt that the 3000GT will smoke all !

its a 1999 mustang not a 94. the 99 does mid-low 14s in the quarter.

3000gt vr4 no matter what year is not gonna run a 13 flat. that was a very rare thing that happen when that guy ran his stealth at 13.04
its called a factory freak.
very good drivers get in the 3000gt vr4 and run a 13.3 which is impressive stock. average time is more like 13.6-5
its possible there's another 3kgt freak out there, but if you hear about it, don't expect any other 3kgt to do the same.

4th Gen Camaros and Firebirds (1993 to 2002) have ruled the Touring II category of SCCA road racing practically since their introduction. On a track with a good surface, the F body platform (the chassis that the Camaro and Firebird share) is very balanced and offers good grip that translates to mild trailing oversteer at the limits.
Camaro/Firebirds, contrary to myth, are not hulking brutes with dinosauric suspensions that can only go in a straight line. In fact, the 4th generation Camaros weighed in at 3360lbs and were able to blitz the slalom at 64 mph. The VR-4 tips the scales at 3737lbs, and is a few ticks slower through the slalom at 63.7mph.
Add in the fact that F bodies are more durable, have a larger aftermarket, and can be had for less money than the VR-4's, it's obvious that the Firebird is the clear choice here.

choice for what? i think the question was just wich is faster, not which would you have(not tryna sound like a jerk or nothing). and how are f-bodies more durable, i have a couple buddy's with some and they seem just as durable as my car.
on the other hand, yes they do have a larger aftermarket and and are cheaper, but still not as fast.

3000GT's have a reputation for fragility particularly in their driveline and in the plethora of electronic doodads, whatsits, and thingamabobs that Mitsubishi threw onto the car over its lifetime.
Compare that to the F-Body, which is built upon components that GM has been refining, re-engineering, and refitting since the late 40's. The LT1 architecture is already incredibly strong and it's mated to the bullet-proof Borg Warner T-56 transmission. That combination right there is strong enough to untold thousands of miles without any marked depreciation in performance.
Need I remind you, it's also the engine that powered many a cop car in the 90's?
Stock for stock, the LT1 Trans Am runs right alongside the 3000GT VR4 in a straight line and will actually dance circles around it on a road course. Furthermore, thanks to inexpensive to maintain and proven mechanicals, the LT1 Trans Am will be on the road for a lot longer time than the VR4.

i understand and agree with everything said except, it being able to run along side of the vr4, not only do i have personal experience(and plenty of it) but numbers and mags will tell the same thing. i think the vr4 is more comparable to the ls1 wrather than the LT1.
i gotta go but i got a couple other things to say to
I'LL BE BACK!!!
i know, it was corny, couldnt resist

this is for the LS1
Skidpad: .87g
Top Speed: 160 mph
Braking, 60-0 mph: 143 ft
Slalom Speed: 62.1 mph
this the VR4 94-99
Skidpad: .90g
Top Speed: 160 mph
Braking, 60-0 mph: 122 ft
Slalom Speed: 63.7 mph
this is the vr4 91-93
Skidpad: .88g
Top Speed: 155 mph
Braking, 60-0 mph: 127 ft
Slalom Speed: 64.2 mph
so you mean that the LT1 can handle better than the LS1?
the vr4 wins in the skidpad, it wins in the braking and it wins in the slalom.
even if the LT1 can handle better, i dont think it could run circles around it as you make it out to seem like.
the only reason the vr4 has problems in its handling is the weight
because the MR version of the GTO runs with skylines rX7's and supra's. the MR is about 200lbs lighter i beleive.

My only gripes against the GTO are the weight...and the ergonomics...and the reliability...and the complexity of working on them...other than that, they're great. :)
But, I'll go with the Trans Am on this one.

sorry youngvr4, but the MR is still a 3700 lb cars. :(
http://www.mitsubishi-motors.co.jp/docs8/productss/gto99/spec.html
or its 3670lbs to be exact.

proving my point even more, because a mr is the same car same engine and same turbo's everything the same, it just had weight reduction, and it runs 12.8 and handles very very well
3670 is actually 100lbs lighter than the regular vr4's

Sorry , even if it's 99 Mustang .. It can not pass a 91 VR4 !
1999 Ford Mustang GT 5.5 14.1
1997 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 4.8 13.6
1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 5.3 13.8

I agreed whole heartedly :)
