Ok, here's a comparison for you guys- young and old.
The 64 1/2 GTO, and the V-Tech Civic. Lets' keep things fair, regarding the 30 year difference in the age of these cars (handling and braking), but each represents something we all hold important: the car that really started it all!
The original GTO:
curb weight: 3485 LB
1/4 ET: 13.1 seconds
389 ci V8, carbureted
The SI:
curb weight: 2375 LB
1/4 ET: 16.2
1.6L I4, fuel injected
What gives? How is it that a car that needed only some corny, narrow slicks to turn a real 12 sec 1/4 mi time, can be replaced by a slightly peppy, mildly-over-engineered chick car?
I just don't get it!
