Well, it doesn't much matter how good a car is when it's flying by you, it matters when you're the one driving it. If anyone could have any car, then there would be no need for the Mustang and the Corvette, and everyone would drive exotic supercars, but that isn't the case. I agree that the Carrera GT is a godly car with a godly price, but I don't think that's as good as a great car with an infinitely more attainable status.

C5 ZO6. I am about american muscle. I wish they'd bring back the F-Bodies. The latest engines I am partial to are the diesels and the LS1 and LS1 based engines(as used in Z06 and 5.3,6.0,8.1 GM Truck engines).

Arrgh! The EVO is winning. :angryfire
This is all my fault. If I hadn’t nominated the C5 Z06 the C6 would probably be winning. :banghead:
That just great. I single handily destroyed the Corvettes chances to be car of the year. :crying:
Im probably going to get a thankyou letter from the CEO of Mitsubishi himself.
P.S
How often in an automotive forum does a smilie like this become appropriate?
:killbarne
"I am so excited about the new WRX I think I'm going to stab Barney the Dinosaur in the head." LOL.

I think we should have done 2005 models only. And yeah, one Corvette is enough :)

I feel the same. It would be like 8th if I put those cars on a list best to least.

Maybe those that cast a vote for the Z06 should have a pole to decide if the Z06 votes should be added to the C6. It won’t be too unfair, as this would at least make the EVO and C6 go neck & neck. On the other hand it might not be fair on the Mustang which as I write this has managed to score itself 2nd place. :dunno:

I think the poll was pretty messed up anyways. We had the old Corvette and the old 911 on there, but we didn't even have the Chrysler 300 or the 997.
I think the real problem is that everyone just votes for their favorite car, rather than the car that is actually the best. And since the majority of AF members are part of the "tuner" crowd, of course the Evo is gonna win.

again those are the choices made by the AF members on an open thread. The nominations were open to all 2004 cars, otherwise it woudl've been unfair. And yes the 997 almost made it to the poll too but it simply did not have enough nominations. Even so two porsche still made it, therefore they will have the same vote split as the vettes.
I'm very confused as to why people complain so mutch about this poll. The nomination was open and advertised all over AF and same goes for the poll. So those are the popular choices. Would anyone rather prefer that the mods got togheter and decided behind close door which is the best car?
I did not vote for the evo and I'm not complaining that its winning, its a good car that has already been chosen by several magazines as the Car Of The Year.

What a bunch of whingers.... We make an effort with the coty concept and all you can do is cry "my car isnt winning....."
well guess what, my car isnt winning either but do you see me bitching? It's a vote. That's just the way it works.

Just out of curiosity, what's the big deal about the Evo MR? I don't know anything about this car and it's winning the COTY. Anyone have any good info on it?

It's basically an EVO 8.5
so take a regular evo 8 and add: an aluminium roof for lower CG, nurburing tuned bilstein shocks, SYAC (better tuned yaw control) on non USDM models, retuned turbo for superior response, forged BBS wheels, improved aerodynamics

The Evo gives a lambo marcelago a tight race in turns and even beat it in a demo video in our video gallery. But from a rolling start (in 5th gear) at 40mph most N/A cars will move quicker due to its nasty turbo lag. What the demo showed me about the Evo is if your in a shifting prime the car has outstanding racing potential turning quite tight even with power to the wheels. I dont like it myself I fancy the older boxy Evo's my fave was the III. Unfortunately any real Evo's around here are like a peso to an american dollar theres not many of them and the active ones dont race much. We do have a plague of Subaru Imprezza wrx sti's here and they rip pretty good but even a stock 99-04mustang has a chance to spank them unless they use each gear to its fullest extent. Then again some of these guys are dumping alot of toys in these awd lil monsters and its tough to decifer whether its juiced up or just has a loud exhaust. Awd cars are cool however we had a blizzard here and every second car in the ditch was a awd car. Go figure I guess people think that awd cars dont require driving or paying attention. Eagle Talon's , subaru's and awd suv's in the ditch along the highway what a waste of a overseas trip to canada. But if they pay attention to the road they are pretty jet cars.
